After starting the season 5-0, a lot of was expected of Auburn when they went to Mississippi State. After losing 38-23, it was obvious that something was missing from Gus Malzahn’s team….a good defense. And for the rest of the season, the defense rotted, basically mailing it in against Georgia and Alabama. According to Gus Malzahn, Auburn’s move to get Will Muschamp was an exceptionally positive one. “Defensively in the offseason, we hired Will Muschamp, in my opinion, the best defensive mind in all of football, not just college football,” he said at the SEC Media Days. “Our defensive players have taken on his personality, which I really like.” He added: ” He just has that presence around him that he gives all the coaches confidence. Auburn backup cornerback to transfer

Auburn backup sophomore cornerback Kamyrn Melton has said that he is going to transfer. Melton said: “I want to thank Coach Malzahn and the Auburn coaching staff……After praying and having a discussion with my family to transfer.” Melton was a three-star recruit, and ranked as the 18th best overall player in Alabama, where he hails from. He was ranked the 41st best cornerback in the country. He had been hotly pursued all the way through high school by the Tigers. The move follows injuries to Jonathan Jones and TJ Davis, and the departure of Mackenro Alexander to South Florida and Kalvarez Bessent. SEC Bowl Predictions: Will Alabama Roll?

We were thinking of going with such articles as “SEC bowls we’re looking forward to”, but if we’re honest, we’re looking forward to all of ’em, unless we get drinking and then we stop watching football because we’re too busy catching up with THAT GUY who we went to high school with who’s back for a while to show off his new wife and tell everybody how he got that BIG CAREER in the city. Auburn freshman shot and killed

Auburn redshirt freshman Jakell Mitchell has been killed in an off-campus shooting. Mitchell, who is a tight end, was rushed into hospital after being shot multiple times at an apartment complex in Auburn. Mitchell was expected to compete for the H-Back spot in the oncoming season, although he had not seen any football action since his junior year in high school, when he tore his ACL. He committed to Auburn in May 2013 as a three-star recruit, Auburn247sports.com reported. The news comes just after a big celebration on campus for Auburn Football after they confirmed that they had hired Will Muschamp as defensive co-ordinator. None of that matters now.
