LSU head coach Les Miles transcript in full at SEC Media Days

LSU head coach Les Miles is ALWAYS nothing short of entertaining when it comes to a press conference, and this year was no difference. Instead of picking out the juicy bits, the whole press conference was simply….awesome. And you’ll find out Austin has no beach (I think he was pissed about being misinformed about Lake Austin), and that his daughter’s a helluva ballplayer. Anyway, the guys at ASAP (I got this via the Twitter of Barrett Sallee at Bleacher Report) faithfully wrote up this press conference, and we thought we’d simply show it to you in all its glory. And warning: The first few paragraphs are just a Les Miles diatribe about how great the Tigers are going to be this

I want things to work well for Dorial.” He added in his press conference when asked about his receiver: “You make mistakes, you have a chance to learn a lesson, and I think he will….We lost a great player.” As for the loss as a meaning for

Butch Jones, the Tennessee head coach, was at his second SEC Media Days get-together, and here are some of his memorable quotes, which have been gained off Twitter. On the UT receiving corps: “We are the original wide receiver U” (apparently, it’s not….it’s Pittsburgh) Who’s going to be QB?:  “We like the progress with [current QBs] Justin Worley, Joshua Dobbs and Nathan Peterman, but we’re not naming a starter”. On the fact that Tennessee’s playing Alabama every year because of the 6-1-1 schedule, which has infuriated some coaches: “What makes college football special is the rivalries”. Young talent: “That has brought a lot of positive energy….We’ve had an influx of young talent.” On Florida: “I believe Florida’s going to be

No Johnny: Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin at SEC Media Days

Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin was at SEC Media Days in Hoover, AL. on Tuesday, and here were some of the quotes from the man who will now always been known as ‘Johnny Manziel’s head coach’. Anyway, here we go( special thanks to GigEm247): On choosing the starting quarterback for the South Carolina game: “Depends on the guy…have a feel for what the guy can handle & don’t have a feel until we get in that environment. Whoever the (A&M) quarterback is (at S. Carolina), I’ll probably be his only friend at that point (in terms of hostile environs). I understand there’s not going to be another Johnny Manziel, that’s part of it.We’ve recruited very well to a system we believe in…..

An Ode To Muschamp The Blunt

As nasty as [everybody] has been towards Florida coach Will Muschamp this off-season after the Gators’ dismal 4-8 season, we didn’t expect the kind of bluntness that he’d come out with at the SEC Media Days in Hoover, AL. He said: “It falls on my shoulders….There will be a lot of chatter about hot seat business. The way you combat that is to have a good football team, which we’re going to have.” He added that he never thought he would go from ‘hot seat’ to ‘boot seat’: “There was never any time in my mind that I didn’t think I would be retained,” he said. “(Florida Athletic Director Jeremy Foley) understood some of the circumstances we dealt with.” Florida

MSU’s Dan Mullen at SEC Media Days

Clanga! Clanga! Clanga! Mississippi State Coach Dan Mullen spoke at SEC Media Days on Tuesday. Here are some major points gleaned from his press conference: On MSU QB Dak Prescott: “Dak is a guy that because of his skill set, he can beat you with his arm, with his legs, he can run between the tackles and he can run in the open field. He has a lot going for him. But most importantly he has that will to win….Dak is going to be a different player this year than he was last year. One of the things we are finding out where his comfort level is this year compared to last year, what he’s doing well.” On the team’s

Steve Spurrier at SEC Media Days: The Quotes

Steve Spurrier was at the SEC Media Days on Tuesday. Here are some of his best quotes. On South Carolina’s hopes to make the new play-off system: “We’ve got a pretty good team, we think. Most of the magazines have got us 9, 10, 11 in the country or something like that.” On Dylan Thompson, his starting quarterback: “He was the only QB in the country to beat UCF” On boosters: “Big donors (in college) are similar to an owner of an NFL team. Best part they don’t tell you what to do. They’re sort of the owners from a distance. They don’t tell you who to play and what plays to call.” On Nick Saban, Alabama and Bama’s recruiting: “It’s

The 6ft 2, 190lb Lodge, from Cedar Hill HS, TX,  is rated for fourth-best wide receiver in the country, and sixth-best player in the State of Texas, and 35th-best player overall. Lodge was offered by a large number of big-time programs, including Texas, Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, Baylor, Florida, Clemson, LSU, Ole Miss, Michigan, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and USC. Texas fans were predictably unhappy with Lodge going to their still-hated rival.
