Will Ole Miss Beat Bama? Week 3 SEC Predictions

We had to eat a little humble pie in the SEC this week. With Arkansas losing to Toledo, Auburn shoulda-losing to Jacksonville State, Tennessee coughing up a 17-point lead and Missouri and Florida struggling with mighty Arkansas State and ECU respectively, this was not a good week for our conference. And it was a shitty week for the SEC Football Blog personally, going 10-1 in games straight up (thanks, Arkansas). We were right on the money in the Oklahoma vs Tennessee game (Sooners won by 7), one-point close in our Ole Miss (41 actual vs 42 prediction) and LSU calls (3 vs 2) and two out with Texas A&M (33 vs 35). After Week 2: Auburn and Arkansas fall in SEC rankings

If you are an Auburn and Arkansas fan, you had an intensely forgettable Saturday. Of course, Auburn survived mighty Jacksonville State — in overtime — with the rest of the SEC cheering on the Tigers to fall, while Arkansas comedically fell at ‘home’ to Toledo (2014 record: 9-4, 7-1 MAC). Elsewhere, Missouri and Florida struggled with Arkansas State and East Carolina respectively, Tennessee gave up a 17-0 lead to Oklahoma in the best atmosphere of the day in Neyland, and Les Miles was Les Miles (and LSU won despite it). Ranking and Predicting Saturday’s SEC games – Week 2

With Tennessee playing Oklahoma, LSU visited Clangaville (Mississippi State), South Carolina playing Kentucky and Georgia playing Vanderbilt (as the CBS games – probably so CBS can say they’ve shown Vanderbilt this season), it’s going to be an interesting-but-not-that-interesting Week 2 of the 2015 College Football Season. SEC Football Blog’s SEC Power Rankings

Here are our SEC Football Blog Power Rankings after Week 1 of the season. Alabama — They are going to be OK with Derrick Henry running behind that offensive line. Texas A&M  — Playing to a home crowd at Kyle Field Houston certainly helped. A lot. But this defense, led by Myles Garrett, was looking changed, talented and great. Georgia — If they stay healthy, Nick Chubb, Keith Marshall and Sony Michel will be a three-headed running back monster for SEC defenses to stop. Vanderbilt 2015 Preview: Will the disaster continue?

2014 was a disaster for Vanderbilt head coach Derek Mason in his first year. There’s no other way to look at it. The three victories in the season included a win by 3 over UMass, a win by 1 over Charleston Southern, and 14 over Old Dominion. They were played off the field in virtually every SEC game they played (apart from Tennessee when they lost by 7), going 0-8 and immediately putting Mason on the hot seat. Auburn 2015 Preview: Is this the Tigers’ year?

After starting the season 5-0, a lot of was expected of Auburn when they went to Mississippi State. After losing 38-23, it was obvious that something was missing from Gus Malzahn’s team….a good defense. And for the rest of the season, the defense rotted, basically mailing it in against Georgia and Alabama. Of course, Ohio State will thank Auburn for exposing the Crimson Tide’s weak secondary (they did the same thing a few weeks later), but this team was a real disappointment, culminating in a 34-31 loss to coach-less Wisconsin. Tennessee 2015 Preview: Joshua Dobbs The Savior?

If we hear that Tennessee is back one more time, we will scream. Seriously. Could they be great this year? We will see.   You know you’ve built a dynasty when every year, people are talking about the Alabama Crimson Tide and mentioning the words “National Title”. In fact, it’s a disappointment when they DON’T get to the final game. Nick Saban, the Alabama head coach, isn’t blaming players for their lack of preparedness going into the 2014 College Football Play-Off semi-final loss to Ohio State. He’s not blaming himself.
