Week 2 rankings: Texas is the King of the SEC (For now)

Texas fans are some of the most arrogant fans in the country. I would know, because I’ve lived here since 2019. When they aren’t beating anyone, they “should”, and when they are beating people, they’ll never lose. So when they moved to the SEC, they got a bit more honest. They thought they might struggle a bit, and started making their excuses. And then NIL came along, and Texas fans realized that all that oil money that had a burnt orange tinge to it could be thrown at players, and the school would pretty much overnight become the powerhouse it once was. Anyway, it’s all working out nicely. So here are our ranks: 1.Texas (2-0): Went to Michigan for one

WEEK 2 SEC Predictions: Can Texas beat Michigan?

When a National title pretender goes to last year’s National Championship winner — and it’s two of the biggest name’s in college football – everyone’s gonna be pretty excited. College Gameday AND Fox’s Preview Show are going to be at Texas v Michigan. The place is obviously sold-out. It’s a massive test of where both teams are. Elsewhere in the SEC, it’s going to be a fun game between ranked NC State and Tennessee,  No.16 Oklahoma State visiting Arkansas, and the first SEC Conference match-up between South Carolina and Kentucky. And there’s also the match-up between Mississippi State and Arizona State which will be a riveting indication of wonderful football. So here we go (in terms of games weren’t interested

SEC Week 1 Round-up: Vanderbilt and Georgia impress, Florida does not, dross in the middle

The SEC was involved in four major match-ups with weekend, with Georgia playing Clemson, LSU playing Southern Cal (USC), Texas A&M at home to Notre Dame, and Florida hosting Miami. Oh, and Vanderbilt played the other game FBS game SEC schools were involved in, battling out with Virginia Tech. It was hard not to be impressed with Georgia’s kerb-stomping of Clemson. But LSU losing a neutral site game to USC was OK. We’re a lot happier with the state of the Tigers than we are with Texas A&M’s offense loss to higher-ranked Notre Dame or almost everything that was the Florida Gators. But Vanderbilt? Jeez. The Commodores were 13 1/2 point underdogs. But they won. Even after blowing a 17

Big Questions in the SEC this season

Here’s some questions for all the SEC teams on the roster….  Who’s out first: Pittman or Napier? Let’s be honest, Florida’s schedule is evil. It is very conceivable that the Gators will finish 5-7 and not be that bad, but will Florida fans take another season of mediocrity? Sam Pittman’s Arkansas team, on the other hand has been in the morass for a longer than you think. They haven’t had a winning in-conference season since 2015. They’ve only hit 4 conference wins once since 2015. And although Sam Pittman’s a lot of fun to the microphone, his brains will be scrambling. Particularly as OC-and-former-Razorback-HC Bobby Petrino’s waiting on the sidelines, dagger in hand. PREDICTION: Pittman. Probably after about 9 games Should you

SEC SCHEDULE FOR 2024 RELEASED

The SEC released their new, Texas and OU-expanded schedule. There are a lot of interesting games, and a lot of dullards. A lot of SEC fans have talked about Texas v Oklahoma being an exiting game because it’s now a S-E-C game, but if you weren’t excited about that match-up every year anyway, then you’re probably ignorant. The great thing about this schedule is that there are some cracker non-conference match-ups, including Texas going to Michigan, Florida v Miami, LSU v USC, Georgia v Clemson and Alabama’s trip to Wisconsin, as well as and an underrated monster in Arkansas going to Oklahoma State. There are a lot of non-conference match-ups we hate that the SEC produces every week, but in

Quick bowl reaction: Bama in, FSU/ Georgia out

After they beat Georgia in the National Championship Game and Florida State’s offense looked so ragged against Louisville, it seemed inevitable that Alabama was going to be the final team into the College Football Play-Off. They will play No.1 Michigan, while No.2 Washington and No.3 Texas face off in the other one. Georgia fans could moan about not being one of the best teams in, but they sank themselves by back-to-back not-great performances against Georgia Tech and Alabama respectively. In the end, they ended up No.6 in the nation, and will face Florida State in the Orange Bowl – something we suspect won’t have a lot of weight if you consider the amount of players who won’t play. But the bottom

Week 2 Rankings: Ole Miss rules, Georgia needs to play someone

Normally, if a team’s the No.1 team in the nation, then they would usually be No.1 on our SEC rankings. But aside from the fact that Georgia’s schedule is medicore-to-dreadful, they haven’t looked wonderful on offense, and aren’t clicking in enough gears to get the No.1 spot. So here are the rankings: Ole Miss (2-0): Beat Tulane 37-20 and looked increasingly comfortable as the game went on. Judkins is a weapon, and Jaxson Dart is looking increasingly comfortable within the offense. Look, there are still things to iron out (they were 1-13 on 3rd downs), but a ‘scrappy’ offense that wins is better than none at all. Tennessee (2-0): Tennessee’s offense sputtered against Austin Peay, but they still ran out in

Week 2 Betting Preview: Get excited about Texas-Alabama, A&M v Miami, and Ole Miss v Tulane

It’s Week 2 of the season tomorrow. The two words on everyone in college football’s mouth is: “Texas” and “Alabama”. Texas fans are apparently forking out $1,000 just to be there – even though Alabama’s widely expected to be comfortable. But that’s not the cool games in the SEC. Ole Miss goes to Tulane in a battle of ‘First to 100’. Texas A&M goes to Miami in the battle of ‘Guess Which School’s Back After Winning This One’. Auburn go up the West Coast to Cal. Mississippi State hosts the high-octane offense of Arizona. And there’s FBS intrigue in the battle of the rich private schools as Vanderbilt goes across state lines to face Wake Forest. However, there are duds. We’re trying

SEC Preview: Is Alabama really an underdog?

This is going to sound incredibly silly, but Alabama may well go into this season as an underdog. Not in many games, but in the National Championship discussion. For years, there isn’t an Alabama player that’s been especially memorable. The rock stars  – like Will Anderson Jr or Bryce Young are gone. Jahmyr Gibbs is gone. Henry To’oto’o is gone.  That’s a hell of a lot of talent. The reason for this is simple: Alabama was meant to be everything when Young and Gibbs were anchoring the offense and Anderson, Demarco Hellams, Brian Branch and To’oto’o were anchoring the defense. Instead they lost the 2021 National Championship Game and didn’t even get to the 2022 Play-Off, despite only losing to LSU

USC, Penn State, Florida State, Clemson and Washington round out the Top 10. In all, there are 6 SEC, 5 Pac-12, 5 B1G, 4 Big 12, 3 ACC as well as Notre Dame, and, er, Tulane. In a bigger statement, Yahoo Sports pointed out that all of the Top 7 will be in the SEC or B1G next year. Surprisingly, Texas is the top team in the Big 12 at 11. We thought they’d be higher. Here is the complete list. 1. Georgia 2. Michigan 3. Ohio State 4. Alabama 5. LSU 6. USC 7. Penn State 8.
