Transfer Portal News: LSU bags All-American O-Line player

LSU has pulled off another coup with signing FIU offensive linesman Miles Frazier, who was a freshman All-American. The school’s offensive line last year had been pretty horrific, giving up 38 sacks (second-worst in the SEC, 115th nationally), which was due to bad play and a stacking up of injuries. Frazier is one of the biggest ‘gets’ of Brian Kelly’s young career in Death Valley. This comes off the back of news that Myles Brennan, who would have started in 2021 had he not been injured, had pulled his name out of the transfer portal.

LSU’s Myles Brennan returns from portal, Eli Ricks does not

Myles Brennan has announced that he is pulling his name from the transfer portal and will inside vie to be LSU’s starting quarterback. The move came after – I expect – a conversation with Brian Kelly about how bare the QB cupboard was at LSU and that he would almost certainly be the 2022 starter. He will compete with freshman Walker Howard, a five-star QB who stayed committed today the school despite Ed Orgeron’s departure. Yesterday the news broke that former All-American CB Eli Ricks had decided to move to Alabama in the transfer portal, which must have infuriated LSU fans. Ricks was out from October after smashing his shoulder, so he should start immediately for the Crimson Tide, who

South Carolina grabs two top transfers from portal

South Carolina has made the early SEC splash in the transfer portal by getting commitments from former Oklahoma QB Spencer Rattler, and his teammate Austin Stogner. This will significantly upgrade South Carolina’s offensive room, where they were a putrid 109th out of 130 in points-per-game. Rattler and Stogner leave as part of a wave of players leaving Norman after head coach Lincoln Riley departed for USC (the other one!) two weeks ago. And while it is hardly a surprise bearing in mind that South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer worked on Oklahoma’s staff from 2018 to 2020 as an assistant head coach as well tight ends coach. Gamecocks fans will be hoping to see the QB who was a preseason

Johnsons pull out of LSU

Hot on the heels of Myles Brennan’s decision to transfer, LSU’s starting QB Max Johnson has decided to leave Baton Rouge. LSU now has one scholarship athlete on its roster – although next year the Tigers bring in 5-star QB Walker Howard, with Garrett Nussmeier also there. New coach Brian Kelly is going to have to get a transfer in, which shouldn’t seem hard bearing in mind LSU’s status. Johnson threw for 2,815 yards, 27 TDs and 6 INTs, yet was utterly medicore as a passer, finishing with a completion percentage of 60.3% (225 – 373). Despite being generally unloved by Tigers fans, Johnson won their hearts with a tremendous final drive against Texas A&M that gave departing coach

The final week….Is Rivalry Week: Week 13 SEC Predictions

Happy Thanksgiving. Finally, we’ll all be able to see each other again. We’ll crack jokes, maybe laugh a little, and try and tell ourselves that we like sweet potato pie and can definitely have two helping of Momma’s Yams. During those family reunions, cousins of different in-state college dispositions will meet up, drink far too much bourbon, and argue like children. There will be discussions of tree-poisoning, and dog-pissing. But everywhere – from internet to in-your-face- will become a cesspool of bitter collegiate football division. Those arguments will develop into fist-fights, probable divorces and definitely decisions never to go to Uncle Joe’s. Ever. Again. And elsewhere, Texas and Texas A&M – the bastions of bitching – will sit each other
