Looking back, it was another glorious year for the SEC. Another National Championship was won, with Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide taking home the bacon. The Crimson Tide beat LSU 21-0 in a re-match in which did both of the things they went out to do: Dominate AND win. In the first game against the Tigers in front over 92,000 in Tuscaloosa, they’d done a lot of dominating, but not a lot of winning. Arkansas O-Linesman gets jail

Arkansas offensive linesman Jason Peacock has been sent to jail after pleading guilty to taking another student’s debit card and using it to buy $35 of gasoline. The player – a starter for the Razorbacks – was sentenced to 10 days’ in jail for the theft – a misdemeanor theft charge. The good news for Peacock (if there is any) is that this could stay off his record if he completes his sentence as well as a year’s probation, the Associated Press said. “He understood he had to be punished. But the former Texas State Police Officer did something in Alabama’s name that will love on long in infamy: He poisoned the oaks at Toomer’s Corner, which are always dressed in toilet paper after the Auburn Tigers have victory. Scheduling: Arkansas adds Southern Miss to 2013 schedule

Arkansas and Southern Mississippi will play their first ever game against each other in 2013, the Golden Eagles said. Southern Miss. AD Jeff Hammond said in a release: “We look forward to the challenge of going to Fayetteville in 2013 to face a strong Southeastern Conference opponent in the University of Arkansas,” Hammond said. “Playing quality opponents it helps with our national exposure as well as a new regional rivalry that allows our fan base an opportunity to see their team play. Auburn Shootings: Leonard turns himself in

Alleged Auburn gunman Desmonte Leonard has been charged for three capital murders and two accounts of assault after turning himself into a Montgomery, Al. courthouse earlier today, it has been reported. In a press conference police authorities said that Leonard – who was wanted for gunning down three people at an apartment complex near Auburn – negotiated with US Marshal Baylor and turned himself in. CBS tweeted at the time of his surrender: “CBS 8 NEWS BREAKING NEWS – Montgomery Co. Sheriff D.T. Marshall confirms to CBS 8 that Desmonte Leonard turned himself in to authorities”. Recruiting: Auburn adds four-star DE Tashawn Bower

Auburn has added defensive end Tashawn Bower, according to reports. The three-star weakside defensive end from New Jersey opted for Auburn on Tuesday. He said on his Twitter feed: “Just committed to auburn #wareagle“. In another tweet, he asked the media to stop nagging him for an interview: “Dear media please stop calling my phone #it‘s dying”. He’s thought of as the 8th best defensive end in New Jersey, and had a number of offers, including SEC schools Florida, South Carolina, Kentucky and Ole Miss. In fact, there weren’t a lot of schools in the country that didn’t chase him.

Recruiting: Mississippi State gets three more commitments

Just when you thought it was safe to put away your cowbell, Mississippi State has just received three more major commitments – both on the attacking side of the ball. First of all, four-star running back Kailo Moore, who hails from Rosedale, Mississippi, opted to play for Dan Mullen’s 2013 class. Moore ran for nearly 1,500 yards and 19 touchdowns for West Bolivar, and he’s got frightening speed. He’s Rivals’ No.12 running back in the nation, and the second in the state. To make matters worse for in-state rival Ole Miss, he originally committed to play for the Rebels, but decided to go to Starkville instead. Recruiting: Arkansas lands top Oklahoma recruit

Arkansas has added its seventh commitment of its 2013 class, ArkansasSports360 has reported. Khari Harding, a three-star recruit from Oklahoma ranked 12th amongst players in his position in the state by Yahoo Rivals, was heavily recruited by Indiana before decided to play for the Razorbacks. “I just like the physicality in the SEC,” Harding told the Oklahoman. “That’s part of me, being physical and coming down and hitting.” He said that they were on the top of his list for a while. He added: “I’ve been really interested in them. I went there and I liked the coaches, the fans, the facilities and what they’re doing around there.” Harding was in the Top 10 of the Oklahoman’s in-state recruits.

Auburn shootings: Police dispute accusations of wrong house raid

Police raiding a house in Montgomery, Alabama where they had been tipped off that alleged shooter Desmonte Leonard was hiding in attic raided the wrong house on Monday night, Reuters has reported. The location “turned out not to be correct,” FBI spokesman Douglas Astralaga told the news agency. However, Auburn Police Chief Tommy Dawson said that the report was not correct. “That is not true. They did not hit the wrong house…I seriously doubt the FBI said that.” The police are searching for Leonard after three men were killed on Saturday at some apartments near Auburn university – two of them Auburn players Ladarious Phillips and Edward Christian. Police and other forces surrounded a house in Montgomery, Alabama where they had been tipped off that a man described as Desmonte Leonard was hiding in the attic on Monday night. The police are searching for Leonard after three men were killed on Saturday at some apartments near Auburn university – two of them Auburn players After two smoke bombs, police entered the house, but police hadn’t left with anyone, Fox News reported. And the AP reported that police were tearing up the house looking for the killer Meanshile, two men were charged by police for hindering the search for the alleged killer.
