Auburn names Stidham as starting QB

Auburn has named transfer Jarrett Stidham as the Tigers starting quarterback for the 2017 season. Stidham, who transferred from Baylor after amassing 1,265 yards, 12 TDs and 2 INTs in just three games of his freshman season before he decided to leave in May 2016 following Art Briles’ firing following his ignoring of mass sexual abuse by his players on random females. Gus Malzahn will hope that Stidham will prove to be more successful than his trio of quarterbacks were in 2016. Jeremy Johnson, Sean White and Jonathan Franklin III all failed to catch fire. Alabama DE Da’Shawn Hand won’t be suspended by Nick Saban after his DUI arrest last weekend. Nick Saban signs extension but raises questions

Nick Saban has signed a contract extension this year that will pay him $11.1 million in 2017 as part of an eight-year deal that will pay the coach a total of $65 million – and that’s before bonuses that could pay him another $700,000 per year until 2024. Jake Bentley was the starter as South Carolina’s quarterback in 2016, and after an excellent performance on Saturday at the Spring Football Game, he certainly cemented his spot for the year. Bentley threw for 301 yards and 3 TDs, going 19 for 31 in the Garnet & Black Game in front of 12,000 people at Williams-Brice Stadium. We know one thing about Alabama’s depth chart: It’s going to be deep. Real. Freaking. Deep. Everywhere on an offensive line will be players who can catch a ball, run it quicker in pads than most people without a ball, helmet and pads on, and they will weigh about the 250-300lb mark.
