Auburn boots former starting QB White

Auburn has booted former starter Sean White after he was arrested for public intoxication on Saturday night. It wasn’t the first time White had been in trouble this season – he’d been suspended for the first two games of this season for undisclosed reasons. He must have taken the fact that Auburn coach Gus Malzahn brought in Jarrett Stidham as a transfer from Baylor pretty badly. It’s been a helluva week in college football. Spurrier’s out, Sark’s out, Grier’s out (for a year) and Tunsil’s out (until next week). Oh, and it’s one of the biggest weeks for games, too. In the SEC we’ve got our fair share of ’em. Some of them look less than they might have (Georgia vs Missouri), and some of them look far bigger than Preseasoners like us would have predicted (LSU vs Florida). Auburn benches QB Johnson

Starting QB Jeremy Johnson has been benched by head coach Gus Malzahn after three awful performances for the Tigers, culminating in a humiliation in Death Valley by LSU. Taking his place will be redshirt freshman Sean White, who came to The Plains as the eighth-best pro-style quarterback in the country, and 22nd overall player in Florida. Johnson went 43-72 for 473 yards, 5 TDs and 6 INTs — and the interceptions number could have been double that. He’s also been sacked five times. 6-0 White was the Elite 11 MVP during his senior season at high school, according to AL.com, and apparently he’s not the running threat that Johnson is.
