Week 3: Missouri’s in a ranked match-up!

After two games against basketball schools, No.6 Missouri finally has a team against a Power-4 team, and it’s Boston College, who have found themselves ranked (No.24). It’s the only ranked match-up in SEC play, although there is a helmet game when Alabama rolls into Camp Randall to play Wisconsin on what with a vociferous atmosphere. Having said all of that, South Carolina could go 2-0 in SEC play when No.17 LSU comes into town after thumping Kentucky on the road last week. Meanwhile, Georgia hosts Kentucky, Florida hosts Texas A&M, Ole Miss travels to Wake Forest, Oklahoma plays Tulane, and Arkansas hosts UAB, and Vanderbilt tries to go 3-0 at mighty Georgia State. Auburn plays New Mexico, it’s Mississippi State

A very quick SEC Bowl Preview

It’s Christmas-time. You and I have a ton of stuff to do, so here are my one-paragrah takes on the non-play-off bowl games, in order of our interest.   Dec 29: COTTON BOWL (DALLAS) – Missouri (-1) v Ohio State (JerryWorld): Ohio State is going to be missing starting QB Kyle McCord (transfer portal), WR Julian Fleming (Portal), and one of its best RBs in Miyan Williams (NFL) Ryan Day has said that WR extraordinaire Marvin Harrison Jr, RB TreVeyon Henderson, TE Cade Stover, DE J.T. Tuimoloau and a number of other defensive players have been practicising and haven’t made their decision on whether to go pro or not. WR Emeka Egbuka has opted in as well as some other draft-eligible

SEC END OF SEASON AWARDS

It’s award season, so we want to throw around some awards ourselves, before those Heisman people get in our way and make us look bad. So here we go. Some of them for the best….some of them for the worst. Thanks for a wonderful season. FEEL FREE TO TELL US WHERE WE WERE WRONG! SEC HEISMAN Jayden Daniels (LSU): Daniels hardly put a foot wrong this season, throwing for 3,800 yards and 40 TDs and rushing for 1,100 yards more and 10 more. He’s on the real Heisman favorite, too. Nominated: Cody Schrader (Missouri), Jaxson Dart (Ole Miss) Jayden Daniels won the Heisman. SEC RUSHER OF THE YEAR Cody Schrader (Missouri): Ran for 1,499 yards and 13 yards in the

Texas & Oklahoma to come to SEC in 2024

Finally, we know when Texas and Oklahoma are coming the SEC. It will be in 2024. The deal with the Big 12, ESPN and FOX was thrashed out, with Fox – who would lose a bunch of game inventory – including the Red River Shoot-Out in 2024 – being the major losers in the situation – finally coming around to a deal where they would be ‘paid back’ in inventory. I’m sure that FOX also ensured themselves on ‘first pick’ of Texas and Oklahoma’s non-conference games or something like that. Apparently, there was a deal in which the match-up between 2024 and 2027 between Michigan will now start in Ann Arbor and move to Austin three years later. Also, Fox

Florida moved to Sunday, South Carolina to Thursday as Ian starts hitting

The SEC and other conferences will also be affected by Hurricane Ian, which is currently hammering the Florida coast. Florida‘s game with Eastern Washington has been moved to noon on Sunday, where viewers can watch it on ESPN+. Obviously, people with tickets for Saturday’s game can go on Sunday, but we are expecting The Swamp to have a pretty sparse crowd. South Carolina‘s Saturday game with South Carolina State has been moved to Thursday at 7pm in an effort to get as many fans in as possible before Ian arrives. “Due to the potential impact of the hurricane on Columbia and the surrounding area, it is in the best interest of safety to play the game on Thursday rather than

After COVID outbreaks, SEC shuffles schedule

The SEC has moved a number of teams’ schedule after Vanderbilt postponed its game against Missouri and then Florida postponed its match-up with LSU – both thanks to COVID-19. Kentucky‘s clash with Missouri has been moved to October 24th to October 31st. Georgia at Kentucky has been moved from October 24th to October 31st.  Missouri at Florida has been moved from October 24th to October 31st. Vanderbilt at Missouri has been moved to December 12th (as expected). LSU‘s trip to Florida has been moved to December 12th (as expected). The set of fans that are absolutely fuming are Georgia fans. Although Georgia’s still going to get a week off, it’s not going to be before the World’s Largest Cocktail Party

SEC Schedule Focus: What’s going to fun to be watch each week

Week 1 (Sept. 26) Actually a pretty boring week here, with the favorites for the leagues almost guaranteed to go 1-0. Florida’s trip to Ole Miss will be interesting because of Lane Kiffin, and the standout game will be, er, Tennessee’s trip to South Carolina. A lot has been talked about of the Vols in this gruelling offseason, so we’ll see if they pick themselves up.  Alabama at Missouri Florida at Ole Miss Georgia at Arkansas Kentucky at Auburn Mississippi State at LSU Tennessee at South Carolina Vanderbilt at Texas A&M Week 2 (Oct. 3) An absolute monster of a Saturday with Auburn going to Georgia and Texas A&M rolling into Bryant-Denney Stadium. There’s also the battle of Spurrier between

SEC opts for a ten-game, conference-only 2020 schedule

The powers-that-be at the SEC have decided on a ten-game, conference-only schedule for 2020. Although there have been no schedule released – we can probably expect them to come next week. The decision meant that the season will start on September 26th – a month after Big 12 and three weeks after the Big Ten. South Carolina Board of Trustees member Chuck Allen told The Athletic (via Twitter): “My understanding is the vote was 13-1 with our president, Bob Caslen, being the sole dissenting vote and part of the reason for his dissenting vote was the rivalry with Clemson.” Either the SEC is waiting for another month to try and ‘get’ the numbers lower, or they are stupid. Why stupid?

Crap Saturday: Previewing the worst weekend in the SEC season

Some rude SEC hater (@SECexposed) called this weekend of the college football season #chickenshitSaturday, and when I looked at the SEC schedule, I had to agree. If there are any Alabama fans getting excited over the chance of watching the Crimson Tide eviscerate Mercer, then you probably need to get out more. But please don’t poison trees or smoke in Bryant-Denny Stadium. Both will get you in trouble and be the butt of jokes here, there and everywhere. Anyway, back to this Saturday. We’re christening it ‘Crap Saturday’, because the schedule’s a load of crap. The biggest game is….is…. LSU’s visit to coach-less Tennesseee? Missouri’s bid for getting into an unlikely bowl against Vanderbilt, who still don’t have a SEC win? Texas
