4-star CB de-commits from UK, commits to Alabama

Alabama has added another defensive back commitment for the 2015 recruiting class. Montrell Custis, a cornerback from Lovejoy High School in Hampton, GA, is ranked as a 4-star player by 24-7 Sports.com. He had originally committed to Kentucky, but now has decided he wants to play in Tuscaloosa instead. Despite also being offered by Auburn, Custis committed to Kentucky on November 10th. On February 25th Alabama offered the player, who then visited the Crimson Tide’s facilities at their Junior Day on March 1st, and visited the school on April 12th. Saban hires former Washington assistant as ‘intern’

Alabama has another addition to its staff: Former Washington assistant Tosh Lupoi. Lupoi has come on board the Crimson Tide freight train as an ‘intern’, where he will help with coaching as well as recruiting. Lupoi was investigated by the NCAA after allegations that he paid a high school recruit while he was working at the University of Washington. “He’s going to be an intern, and he’s got a lot of good experience both coaching and recruiting,” Saban said in a press conference. “He didn’t get a job this year, didn’t have any issues relative to the way we checked him out with the NCAA, which we do with everybody that we hire… He’s going to be an intern that helps

Texas A&M continues National Signing Day excellence

We’d like to make this clear: Texas A&M fans on Twitter spent an awful lot of time in hope as some of the country’s biggest recruits made their decisions to come to schools, but they weren’t exactly crying their eyes out when it didn’t happen. That’s because Kevin Sumlin had already put together a monster JUCO recruiting haul, and the signatures already coming in were among the best classes in the country. And, thank God for Aggies fans (and much-maligned (and generally by us) defensive co-ordinator Mark Snyder), a bunch of it was on the defensive side. DE Myles Garrett, the No.2 player at that position in the nation, is coming to College Station, as is already-signed athlete Speedy Noil.

Tennessee comes in with HUGE recruiting haul

After years of being terrible, Tennessee head coach Butch Jones has come in with just what the doctors in Knoxville ordered: A monster haul. By the end of National Signing Day, 32 players had signed up to be Volunteers (yeah, you read that right), much to even the biggest UT bloggers, who titled their National Signing Day post: “Where did all these bricks come from?” The answer is that Tennessee kicked butt and got signings in pretty early – including shoring up their defense with some excellent recruits. No Championship? No problem for Nick Saban. The Alabama Crimson Tide was AGAIN the No.1 recruiting team on National Signing Day, with a tremendous signing day haul. It included: Three of the ESPN 300’s top 10 players (OT Cameron Robinson, DE Da’Shawn Hand, CB Tony Brown), and the No.10 and No.12 players in the nation, too (ATH Bo Scarborough, and CB Marlon Humphrey). They also stunningly picked up OLB Rashaan Evans from Auburn High school – who had also been rated highly, despite many thinking – including Auburn itself– that Evans was a cert to play in Jordan-Hare. Nick Saban to Texas, Or Not?

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock or taking selfies at Nelson Mandela’s funeral, you’d probably heard the news and rumors that Nick Saban is leaving Alabama to become the new head coach at Texas. First of all Texas Longhorns website Orangebloods.com followed up a weekend of rumors that Saban was going to Texas by saying that UT coach Mack Brown was out. Brown himself said that he wasn’t leaving, saying that he was on a recruiting trip to Florida, telling Jimmy Burch at Horns247: “I’m in Florida recruiting.
