Alabama RB ruled ineligible

Freshman Alabama running back DeSherrius Flowers has been ruled ineligble and will not enroll in Tuscaloosa in the fall, the school has said. The school found an eligibility issue which means he will not be cleared to enroll. Alabama is deep at running back with Derrick Henry and Kenyan Drake, but four-star recruit Flowers, from Mobile, AL, would have been quite a weapon for the future. 6ft-1, 211lb Flowers was ranked as the 5th-best player in Alabama and the 15th-best running back in the nation, and 146th-best player in the nation overall. Arkansas gets 3-star LB to commit

Arkansas has captured its eighth commitment of the 2016 recruiting class after OLB Alexy Jean-Baptiste decided he wanted to be a Razorback on Monday. The 3-star recruit is from Coconut Creek HS in Pompano Beach, FL, and is 6-3 in height and weighs a tidy 205 lb. 24-7Sports.com rates him as the 55th-overall best linebacker in the nation, the 104th-best player in Florida, and 786th-best player in Florida. He had 26 offers, including Kentucky, Miami, Michigan State, Wisconsin and Louisville, but Arkansas won a 3-way battle between themselves, the Hurricanes, and North Carolina.

Texas A&M beats Arkansas to 3-star WR

Texas A&M has beaten Arkansas to the commitment of three-star wide receiver Quartney Davis. 6ft, 181lb Davis, from Langham Creek HS in Houston, TX, is rated the 97th player in Texas and the 112th overall wide receiver. And he’s the 754th overall player. The Razorbacks were also among 30 schools to offer the player, and LSU and TCU were also interested. Langham Creek had a 9-2 season in 2014. Davis runs an 11 second 100 meter dash, which should help A&M’s quarterbacks given half the chance.

Arkansas, Vandy get huge O-Linemen commitments

Arkansas and Vanderbilt have both scored huge offensive linesmen commitments. 6-7, 270lb Kellen Diesch from Byron Nelson High School in Trophy Club, TX is ranked as the 83rd-overall players in Texas, the 48th overall offensive linesman and 575th player in the country overall. Vanderbilt’s big commitment for the weekend was from 6-7, 305lb Devin Cochran from Greater Atlanta High School in Norcross, GA. Cochran is ranked the 84th overall player in Georgia and the 79th overall offensive tackle in the country. He is also ranked the 906th overall player in the country. Texas A&M beats Texas, OU to 4-star DE

Texas A&M has added the commitment of four-star defensive end Mark Jackson. The Aggies beat Oklahoma and Texas to Jackson’s commitment. 6-2, 226lb Jackson hails from Steele High School in Cibolo, TX. Jackson is rated as the 9th-best weakside defensive end in the nation, 28th-best player in the State of Texas and 179th-best player in the USA overall by 247Sports.com. Aside from Oklahoma and Texas, Jackson was also offered by Missouri, Notre Dame, Baylor, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas Tech, and UCLA and was also recruited by Stanford and LSU, but not offered.

Alabama moves up SEC recruiting table with DT commit

The commitment of four-star defensive tackle Kendell Jones to Alabama has moved the Crimson Tide up the SEC recruiting rankings. The 6-4, 361lb Jones is ranked 67th on the National Composite rankings, as well as being the 11th-best DT in the nation and the 9th-best player in Texas, where he plays at Shoemaker High School. The rankings – according to recruiting website 24-7 – sees Alabama leapfrog Tennessee to fifth, behind Georgia, Ole Miss, LSU and Kentucky.  Florida is in seventh, followed by Mississippi State, Auburn, Arkansas, South Carolina, Vanderbilt and Missouri. Alabama also moved up four spots to No.10 in the national rankings, which is currently headed up by Florida State. The Crimson Tide currently has five four-star commitments

Missouri DE dismissed

Missouri has dismissed redshirt sophomore defensive end Marcus Loud for a violation of team policies, the team has said. According to website RockMNation, the dismissal of the 6-4, 260lb DE was not on legal grounds. Loud was one of the favourites to start at the position this year. In 2014 he played all 14 games for Missouri, putting up 14 tackles and a tackle for loss, Loud, from Wheatley, TX, was a 3-star recruit in the Tigers’ 2012 class as the 54th-best strongside defensive end in the country, according to recruiting site 24-7. He spurned offers from Mississippi State, TCU and Michigan State (amongst others) before deciding to play in Columbia.

Vols beat eight SEC schools to 3-star DE

Three-star defensive end Chidi Okonya has committed to Tennessee. The Riverdale High School player is ranked the 19th-highest defensive end in the nation by 24-7 Sports, and the 31st overall player in Georgia. The 6-5, 230lb player from Riverdale, Georgia was offered by a large number of schools, including Georgia, Florida, LSU, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Missouri, Ole Miss, and Vanderbilt in the SEC. Big-name out-of-conference schools included Notre Dame, Stanford, Penn State, Oregon and Clemson. He was visited by coaching staffs from Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Oregon, Wisconsin, Louisville and Duke.

Four-star DT commits to Georgia

Four-star defensive lineman Tyler Clark has committed to Georgia. 6-3, 230lb Clark, from Americus, GA, was also highly recruited by Auburn and Clemson – although only Georgia, Louisville and Wake Forest had given the player an offer. Clark, who plays at Americus Sumter County South High School, is rated as the 22nd best defensive tackle in the nation, and the 20th best player in the State of Georgia.
