After another highly-successful NFL Draft, SEC draftees from 2015 are GOING to make an impact in 2015. Sadly, after his ACL tear on Friday in the Jacksonville Jaguars’ first minicamp, one of them’s not going to be the SEC’s No.1 pick, Dante Fowler (went  No.3 in the draft). 1.    AMARI COOPER (OAKLAND RAIDERS) The former Alabama wide receiver was taken as the best player at that position on the board, despite others seeming to love Kevin White. Auburn DE suspended after theft arrest

Auburn defensive end Elijah Daniel has been suspended after being arrested for theft. According to AL.com, Daniel’s arrest came after a month-long investigation into a sequence of robberies at the university, in which phones and various items of jewelry were taken. Daniel, DeNorris James and Khalil Sellers face four charges of property theft and four burglary charges, which AL.com adds “includes six felonies”. Daniel managed 24 tackles and 3.5 stats in 27 games for the Tigers.

Saban: Taylor will not be reinstated

Nick Saban, the head coach of Alabama, has said that Jonathan Taylor will not be reinstated in Tuscaloosa despite the defensive tackle’s girlfriend recanting her accusation of domestic violence on Saturday night. “That decision has already been made. He won’t be back with us,” Saban said in an interview with ESPN.com. The University added that Taylor won’t be to continue studies as a student in Tuscaloosa either. “Jonathan Taylor is no longer a student at The University of Alabama and is not eligible for readmission.” Taylor arrived on Alabama’s campus as an early enrolee to the team after spending a year in Mississippi at a junior college after being dismissed from the University of Georgia after being arrested for domestic

  Nick Saban is stuck between a rock and a hard place in the Jonathan Taylor situation, and both sides don’t look attractive to the Alabama head coach. It emerged on Monday that Taylor’s girlfriend had recanted her story about being domestically abused, and she was arrested. No Third Chances: Alabama dismisses Jonathan Taylor

Jonathan Taylor, the former Georgia DT booted from Athens after domestic violence charges who then enrolled at Alabama, has been booted by the Crimson Tide after being arrested for domestic violence charges. According to ESPN: “Police officers responded to a call near Alabama’s campus to speak with a woman who told police she was assaulted by her boyfriend at approximately 6 p.m. Saturday. After speaking to the woman about an altercation that took place at her residence, officers located the suspect at the residence and spoke to him about the incident. Officers found probable cause to arrest the suspect. The 24-year-old woman had minor injuries to her neck from the assault, according to the police report. The officer also noted

SEC names new Commissioner

The SEC has named former COO Greg Sankey as the league’s new Commissioner after Mike Slive had to resign due to treatments for cancer. Sankey, who has been at the SEC for 12 years and was the league’s Executive Associate Commissioner, was announced by head of SEC presidents and chancellors Nick Zeppos. He will take over Slive’s job when he formally retires on end-July this year. “The institutions of the Southeastern Conference searched for a commissioner who would carry forward the momentum of success enjoyed by the SEC over the last decade while also possessing a vision for change in the modern era of college athletics,” said Zeppos.  “Greg Sankey’s experience with our institutions, his respect on the national landscape,

Dak Prescott attacked on Spring Break

Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott has been attacked while on Spring Break in Panama City. This video recently surfaced on Facebook. You can see Prescott- in the rainbow shorts- being surrounded by 3 or 4 guys and  – unsurprisingly – not looking certain on his feet moments after the attack. Pictures have emerged of his bloody face and body after the attack, although he is not thought to be badly injured. Prescott was on Spring Break with some Mississippi State players when the incident happened. I don’t understand: Why did the SEC hit LSU with recruiting violations?

I’ve been looking at this for a while now, and I still can’t understand why LSU was hit with recruiting violations fines by the SEC. According to the SEC, LSU prospect Matt Womack signed a financial aid agreement with the Tigers, only to back out of the deal, de-commit, and go to Alabama instead. Because there had been an arrangement where recruits who signed a financial aid agreement with a school could be contacted by that school on an unlimited fashion (yeah, we’re confused right here!), LSU obviously contacted Womack heavily….and now he’s gone to Tuscaloosa, the SEC found that that contact had been illegal. Illegal why? Because a financial aid agreement’s not the same as a National Letter of
