Will ESPN change the Georgia vs Arkansas game time? No.

A friend of mine texted me today. He was FUMING. “Can you believe that they’ve put Georgia vs Arkansas at frickin’ 11am?’ We live in the Houston area, so 11am kick-offs aren’t the greatest time for our wake-ups or our livers, but we stride on. So I looked and behold: No.2 Georgia will play No.8 Arkansas under the bright sunlight, instead of what the fans of the SEC probably wanted more – a night game, with Sanford Stadium going off the chain. “They should have waited until after the Texas A&M – Arkansas game to make that call,” he said. Instead, ESPN made the call on September 20th. What was a little galling for Georgia fans – and the rest

After Week 3: Ranking the SEC

When the refs steal the a lot of the game’s limelight, you know that the reffing was terrible. And in the Mississippi State vs Memphis Penn State vs Auburn clashes, they were beyond terrible. No, stupid press releases about how these dumbf**ks screwed up the call might make the SEC feel better, but these guys should be suspended. I mean, they are costing coaches their potential livelihoods here! Apart from that – and that’s like saying: “Apart from that Mrs Lincoln, how was the play?” – here’s our SEC rankings. Georgia (3-0): The Dawgs look unbeatable at the moment. Sure, their secondary gave up 2 or 3 big plays to South Carolina, but the strength was meant to be the

Week 3 SEC Preview: Auburn at Penn State, Alabama at Florida

After the relative dross of SEC games last week, Week 3 of the season – on paper anyway – is a beautiful mixture of in-house SEC clashes, and some ‘dope’ out-of-conference clashes, which are the filling of some pretty dry bread that you can avoid if you take it away. For a lot of people looking at the season early, it was all going to be about Alabama vs Florida in The Swamp, with a packed Gainseville crowd looking for blood. There was going to be a new Alabama after the NFL had once again decimated the team, and Dan Mullen was going to pull of miracles? Oh, and then we saw what Alabama could do, and dear Lord it’s

SEC Predictions for Week 1

Last week was Week 0. Yeah, we saw a B1G match-up between Nebraska and Illinois, as well as UCLA putting a beating on Hawaii, but that was about it. But this week is where the big guns come in, and every team comes and flexes their muscles. As usual, we’re going by games that interest us the most. And weirdly Alabama – is in the Top 3. No.5 Georgia vs No.3 Clemson (-3, O/U 51.5) (Charlotte): This is a game that everyone’s been excited about since it came on the schedule last year. And although Georgia’s ranked No.5 and Clemson’s ranked No.3, these are two bona fide National Championship favorites. And both have the chance to run the table if

SEC Preview: Can Alabama repeat this season?

Alabama’s National Championship last season was a beauty. They buried defenses on offense, and after the Ole Miss near-debacle, they buried defenses too. But the NFL scourged a team like we’ve never team. The Crimson Tide had SIX first round picks (WRs Jaylen Waddle, DeVonta Smith, CB Patrick Surtain, QB Mac Jones, OT Alex Leatherwood, RB Najee Harris), plus second rounder C Lance Dickerson and DT Christian Barmore and OG Deonte Brown (6th round) and LS Thomas Fletcher (6th round). LB Dylan Moses, TE Miller Forristall, TE Carl Tucker and LB Josh McMillon. To put in in ‘Bama terms, that’s a Heisman winner (Smith), a Heisman finalist (Jones), a possible Heisman-finalist-if-he-hadn’t-gotten-injured (Waddle), one of the best CBs in the country

Here’s who won the SEC QB Battles

Every SEC starting QB apart from Mississippi State has been named. Here’s an outline of what SEC head coaches have done. THE CERTAINTIES ALABAMA: BRYCE YOUNG. Young was named starter on 8/30. After coming to Tuscaloosa as one of the top QBs in the 2020 recruiting cycle, everyone has been excited about seeing this Californian prospect start. He has already been mentioned as having a Heisman chance. ARKANSAS: KJ JEFFERSON. Although there’s meant to be a quarterback battle in Fayetteville, Razorbacks head coach Sam Pittman has been fawning over Jefferson’s play so much, that everyone else is obviously stepping back from the sophomore, now that Felipe Franks has gone to the NFL. AUBURN: BO NIX This is the year. Bo

The SEC loves black players, hates black head coaches

If I’m an Auburn fan, I wouldn’t understand why my team didn’t even bother interviewing Tony Elliott. Tony Elliott has been in charge of one of the biggest, brightest offenses in college football for 2015-2019, and has coached NFL star in Deshaun Watson, and the next NFL star in Trevor Lawrence. He’s been a master – and has been prettily paid for it by one of college football’s most elite programs. It’s easy to see why Elliott wasn’t even interviewed. The excuse from Greene (who by the way, is African-American) will be that he didn’t bother interviewing anybody, instead of going straight for Boise State’s Brian Harsin – a move which pissed off the already-crazed Auburn booster base. But
