How will the SEC load up the 2015 NFL Draft?

The NFL Draft is coming, and with it, more SEC glory. We may not have Jameis Winston or Marcus Mariota or even Leonard Williams to boast about, but we do have Dante Fowler Jr (Florida), Amari Cooper (Alabama), Todd Gurley (Georgia) and Shane Ray (Missouri). WHAT HAPPENED LAST YEAR? Yes, we get that our No.1 Draft pick from last year – South Carolina monster Jadeveon Clowney hasn’t panned out as we had hoped for – but that was a mixture of Houston’s turf and a hell of a lot of bad luck. Texas A&M’s Heisman-winning quarterback Johnny Manziel spent more time in rehab than he did on the field for Cleveland. But former LSU wideout Odell Beckham Jr is God up

Can Ole Miss rebound to beat Auburn? Will Georgia win the Cocktail Party? SEC Week 10 Preview

If someone told you at the start of the year that the Ole Miss versus Auburn game would be the biggest game of the football season to date, they’d send you back to the crackhouse with Toronto Mayor Rob Ford. But it’s true: War Eagle’s visit to The Grove will represent the clash of two of the four teams in the College Football Play-Off Committee (Auburn was voted No.3 and Ole Miss No.4), with the loser seemingly going to get booted out of contention. College Gameday, after visiting SEC schools – including two Missisippi schools- three times in four weeks – has decided to go up to Morgantown for the TCU’s visit of West Virginia. We hope they’ve brought their

Gurley suspension puts Georgia in spotlight: Week 7 SEC Predictions

On a weekend that the No.2 team in the nation go and play the No. 3 team, and the team which beat Alabama goes down to a cauldron of noise to play in butt-hurt Texas, it’s funny how one incident can steal a spotlight for another team completely. And that incident and spotlight was stolen by Georgia, which has suspended their Heisman Trophy candidate/frontrunner indefinitely because he was photographed signing autographs (apparently he accepted $400 to do it in the spring). It’s strange, because there’s also spotlight on Florida, which suspended QB Treon Harris while it investigates an accusation of sexual assault against him. I mean, it’s weird out West at the moment, but it might be even weirder out

Mississippi Powerhouses: SEC Week 6 Power Rankings

Wow. What a week for Ole Miss and Mississippi State. Ole Miss shows up at The Grove with the College Gameday crew wearing bow ties and looking pretty great, and Katy Perry makes an ass of herself on camera, and Ole Miss goes on to beat Alabama. Before that Mississippi State had beaten the living daylights out of Texas A&M, and looked worth the victory. Auburn beats the corndog out of LSU, while Florida and Tennessee plays the worst game in the History of Man. It ends 10-9 to Florida. Georgia throttles Vanderbilt, as predicted. Oh, and Kentucky scores a massive upset, beating South Carolina. Spurrier’s probably a little pissed by now. We called the Mississippi State and South Carolina

A Take on Auburn’s Thursday Night Football Special

There’s something about Kansas State in the summertime. Maybe it’s the corn-fed dance team, with the legs that go on for miles. Maybe it’s the sun going down on the fields, with just water towers on view for miles and miles. Maybe it’s Manhattan – the ‘Little Apple’, a place so quaint that you could place the place in the South and it would probably fit in nicely. Maybe it’s the fanbase, that were loud enough to create a hell of an atmosphere last night, but not lunatic-fringe like some fanbases that we see in places like the Big Ten. Maybe it was the wind blowing Samantha Ponder’s hair, and us having to remind ourselves that no, she’s not free

2014 SEC Preview: Can Auburn make it two straight SEC Championships?

The 2014 SEC season is nearly upon us, so it’s high time (no pun intended, Nick Marshall) that we start our round of 14 SEC previews with the Auburn Tigers. We were thinking about starting with favorites Alabama, or the Yell Boys at Texas A&M, but we realised that we do previews, we start with the Champions – and those were the Tigers, who beat Missouri in a 59-42 shoot-out in Atlanta. Anyway, here’s your preview of the 2014 Auburn Tigers. LAST SEASON This was an incredible season to be an Auburn fan. ‘War Eagle’ finished 12-1 and 7-1 in the SEC, with their only loss coming at LSU. They beat Alabama and Georgia in stunning circumstances, with ‘Kick-Six’ and

Auburn superstar in pot citation

Auburn QB Nick Marshall – a key part of Auburn’s stunning 2013-4 National Championship Game run – has been cited in Georgia on possession of marijuana. He was cited in Reynolds, GA for misdemeanor possession of marijuana, after his car was initially pulled over for a tinting violation. A policeman smelt that marijuana had been smoked in the car, and searched the car, finding that less than an ounce was found. The Sporting News noted that with Marshall’s arrest, both starting QBs in this year’s National Championship Game had been arrested after the arrest of Florida State QB Jameis Winston for thieving crabs legs. Marshall had nearly 2,000 passing yards and over 1,500 rushing yards in the 2013 season. According to

Alabama-LSU re-takes focus of college football: Week 11 SEC Predictions

So, it was a pretty crazy Thursday after all. Baylor was restricted for a quarter-or-so then broke out the whooping stick on Oklahoma. Then, unbeaten Oregon rolled into Stanford….and lost 26-20 in a game that they trailed 26-0 and were owned in. Anyway, Saturday night’s alright for fighting…..or Alabama to play LSU. The game last year was incredible, but not a lot of people are anticipating the 2013 version from Tuscalossa to be that good. Anyway, here’s your Week 11 Predictions. LSU AT ALABAMA Because of the size of Thursday’s games, the LSU-Alabama has been slightly overshadowed this week. There’s also the fact that LSU’s losses to Georgia and Ole Miss means that they currently stand 13th in the rankings

After Alabama wins, Game Of The Century’, Ole Miss Macks Texas: Week 3 SEC Power Rankings

Sooo…..Alabama beat Texas A&M in the ‘Game Of The Century’, while Ole Miss beat Texas 43-23 to pour on the pressure on tired, beaten and sad-looking Mack Brown, and Kentucky surprised us by only losing to Louisville by 14. And Tennessee surprised nobody by getting annihilated at Oregon. Anyway, here’s our SEC Power Rankings:  1. Alabama – Alabama’s win over Virginia Tech and at Texas A&M is a better 2-game schedule than LSU’s wins over TCU, Kent State and UAB. The 49-42 victory over Texas A&M was actually more comfortable that the scoreline suggested – especially as they were up 42-21 at the start of the 4th. Can we start talking about AJ McCarron’s Heisman campaign please? 2. LSU – The
