Stop if you’ve heard this before about recruiting: It’s an Alabama and Georgia world, and everyone else just lives in it. Every time there was a tweet from the two schools’ Twitter during the National Signing Day flurry, there was another four or five-star recruit that wanted to play for Nick Saban or Kirby Smart. Roquan Smith commits to UGA

Roquan Smith has committed to being a Georgia Bulldog. The Macon, GA linebacker had said that he was going to be going to UCLA at National Signing Day, but after the Pac-12 team’s defensive coordinator, Jeff Ulbrich, had lied to him about taking the Atlanta Falcons DC’s job, he decided to revisit his options. He re-opened his commitments, looking at Georgia, UCLA, Michigan and Texas A&M, but eventually opted to play in the SEC. “As you could imagine it’s been tough lately,” he told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution in a statement. “But I am relieved to say that I am officially committed to The University Of Georgia 100 percent.” Smith signed a financial aid agreement but not a letter of intent,

Auburn, Tennessee, Alabama the SEC’s biggest winners of National Signing Day

There were no surprises who the biggest winner was of National Signing Day – Alabama. But the two schools who made bigger noises than Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide was Auburn and Tennessee. Auburn managed to get the nation’s top-ranked DE Byron Cowart from under Florida’s noses,  as well as four-star LB/RB Jeff Holland, who was also chased by the Gators. And while we’re at it, four-star Javarius Davis decided to sign for Auburn rather than go to Gainseville too… – Tennessee picked up 5-star OT Drew Richmond, from Memphis TN. in the face of a strong battle from Ole Miss. National Signing Day: Why the SEC’s going to rule again

  On Wednesday, it’s over. National Signing Day 2015 will be on us, and we can look for the next stars. Some of the predictions of freshmen excellence were right last year (Nick Chubb), and some were right about JuCo excellent (D’haquille Williams), but some are still projects. And that’s OK. Karma? How was Arkansas’ National Signing Day?

Bret Bielema isn’t much liked in SEC corridors. Maybe it’s because he was Wisconsin’s head coach. Maybe it’s because of his wife and her tweeting ways. Maybe it’s because he hasn’t won a SEC game. Anyway, Arkansas fans will certainly like him a lot better after a solid National Signing Day – which included getting a player to come play for him instead of National Champion Florida State. That was the case with 4-star athlete JoJo Robinson . Robinson had been pursued by LSU, Auburn and Miami, too. They think he might be the next great UA punt/kick returner. We can’t wait. Anyway, Bielema has always been pretty good at getting running backs, and he added one more in Juan Day.

Ole Miss: The country’s most bizarre National Signing Day

After a tremendous 2013 National Signing Day, it would have taken Godlike qualities (and a Nick Saban resignation) to have propelled Hugh Freeze to those heights. Instead, the Ole Miss coach continued with another tremendous National Signing Day, solidifying his offensive line with a bunch of offensive linesmen, including four-starrer Rod Taylor, as well as Tyler Putman, and Jordan Sims. They’ll join JUCO O-Lineman Fahn Cooper, who enrolled early. Defensively, Freeze got JUCO DB Tee Shepard, who had previously committed to Notre Dame and Mississippi State, before he decided to play in Oxford at the last minute. Texas A&M continues National Signing Day excellence

We’d like to make this clear: Texas A&M fans on Twitter spent an awful lot of time in hope as some of the country’s biggest recruits made their decisions to come to schools, but they weren’t exactly crying their eyes out when it didn’t happen. That’s because Kevin Sumlin had already put together a monster JUCO recruiting haul, and the signatures already coming in were among the best classes in the country. And, thank God for Aggies fans (and much-maligned (and generally by us) defensive co-ordinator Mark Snyder), a bunch of it was on the defensive side. DE Myles Garrett, the No.2 player at that position in the nation, is coming to College Station, as is already-signed athlete Speedy Noil.
