ESPN: Nick Saban’s agent spoke with Texas regent, Saban rebuffs story

Nick Saban’s agent spoke with a Texas regent, according to a report from the Associated Press. The AP report – which does nothing to scotch rumors that the Alabama coach might become the next coach at Texas after Mack Brown leaves at the end of the season – said: “Regent Wallace Hall of Dallas told the AP he spoke by telephone with agent Jimmy Sexton a few days after the Jan. 7 title game. Tom Hicks, a former regent who is the brother of current regent Steve Hicks, also was on the call. SEC Week 2: Power Rankings – Georgia rises, Florida falls

It was a weird and wild weekend in the SEC. Georgia and South Carolina played a classic that Georgia finally one (it’s been the opposite direction at Sanford between these two recently), Texas A&M struggled with mighty Sam Houston State in the first half of their game (mainly thanks to some terrible defense), LSU’s Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham were bringing the circus to ‘circus-like catches’ in Death Valley against UAB, and, er, Florida lost at Miami. LSU RB Hill not going to jail or getting kicked off team

Jeremy Hill’s immediate future is not behind bars, it seems. The star LSU running back was given extra community service after admitting simple battery in a fight outside a bar in Baton Rouge earlier this year – despite violating the terms of a parole given to him as a high schooler. Jeremy Hill called a press conference, which he went to with Les Miles, his coach in tow. Miles had indefinitely suspended the player for the fight. SEC Media Days: What To Expect From Day 2

The second day of SEC Media Days is going to be a firecracker – and that’s because Johnny Manziel’s in the house. The Texas A&M quarterback – together with coach Kevin Sumlin and other players, will be visiting Hoover, Al. (as will cohorts of Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Auburn and Mississippi State), and here’s what we expect everybody to say: Johnny Manziel: To make some excuse about being dehydrated, ill, and tired as a reason for leaving the Manning camp early. SEC coaches vote to keep eight-game SEC schedule

SEC football coaches have voted 13-1 to stay with an eight-game conference schedule, although it has been noted eventually, this will go up a notch, ESPN has reported. The one coach who voted against staying with eight games was Alabama’s Nick Saban. Florida coach Will Muschamp said that it’s going to happen in the future: “Personally, I think we’ll end up moving to nine (conference) games eventually….My personal opinion (is) you create an SEC Network, at the end of the day, it’s going to be driven by the dollar, and having those games is going to be important, and having enough quality games on television promoting a nine-game SEC regular season, in my opinion, will eventually happen.” The word ‘schedule’

After The Game Of The Century: Week 11 SEC Predictions

Well, what a week that was. Ole Miss got our hearts pumped by taking a 10 point lead at Georgia….and then conceded 37. Missouri got our hearts pumped by taking a 7 point lead at Florida…..and then conceded 14. LSU and Alabama got our hearts pumped that we actually felt sorry for the loser. Anyway, the SEC is back this week with no particular ‘heavyweight’ battles, although everyone seems to be looking forward to seeing how Johnny Manziel will cope with Alabama’s defense – which was actually a lot less of a ‘machine’ in Death Valley.
