Week 3: Missouri’s in a ranked match-up!

After two games against basketball schools, No.6 Missouri finally has a team against a Power-4 team, and it’s Boston College, who have found themselves ranked (No.24). It’s the only ranked match-up in SEC play, although there is a helmet game when Alabama rolls into Camp Randall to play Wisconsin on what with a vociferous atmosphere. Having said all of that, South Carolina could go 2-0 in SEC play when No.17 LSU comes into town after thumping Kentucky on the road last week. Meanwhile, Georgia hosts Kentucky, Florida hosts Texas A&M, Ole Miss travels to Wake Forest, Oklahoma plays Tulane, and Arkansas hosts UAB, and Vanderbilt tries to go 3-0 at mighty Georgia State. Auburn plays New Mexico, it’s Mississippi State

Week 2 rankings: Texas is the King of the SEC (For now)

Texas fans are some of the most arrogant fans in the country. I would know, because I’ve lived here since 2019. When they aren’t beating anyone, they “should”, and when they are beating people, they’ll never lose. So when they moved to the SEC, they got a bit more honest. They thought they might struggle a bit, and started making their excuses. And then NIL came along, and Texas fans realized that all that oil money that had a burnt orange tinge to it could be thrown at players, and the school would pretty much overnight become the powerhouse it once was. Anyway, it’s all working out nicely. So here are our ranks: 1.Texas (2-0): Went to Michigan for one

SEC Week 1 Round-up: Vanderbilt and Georgia impress, Florida does not, dross in the middle

The SEC was involved in four major match-ups with weekend, with Georgia playing Clemson, LSU playing Southern Cal (USC), Texas A&M at home to Notre Dame, and Florida hosting Miami. Oh, and Vanderbilt played the other game FBS game SEC schools were involved in, battling out with Virginia Tech. It was hard not to be impressed with Georgia’s kerb-stomping of Clemson. But LSU losing a neutral site game to USC was OK. We’re a lot happier with the state of the Tigers than we are with Texas A&M’s offense loss to higher-ranked Notre Dame or almost everything that was the Florida Gators. But Vanderbilt? Jeez. The Commodores were 13 1/2 point underdogs. But they won. Even after blowing a 17

Big Questions in the SEC this season

Here’s some questions for all the SEC teams on the roster….  Who’s out first: Pittman or Napier? Let’s be honest, Florida’s schedule is evil. It is very conceivable that the Gators will finish 5-7 and not be that bad, but will Florida fans take another season of mediocrity? Sam Pittman’s Arkansas team, on the other hand has been in the morass for a longer than you think. They haven’t had a winning in-conference season since 2015. They’ve only hit 4 conference wins once since 2015. And although Sam Pittman’s a lot of fun to the microphone, his brains will be scrambling. Particularly as OC-and-former-Razorback-HC Bobby Petrino’s waiting on the sidelines, dagger in hand. PREDICTION: Pittman. Probably after about 9 games Should you

A very quick SEC Bowl Preview

It’s Christmas-time. You and I have a ton of stuff to do, so here are my one-paragrah takes on the non-play-off bowl games, in order of our interest.   Dec 29: COTTON BOWL (DALLAS) – Missouri (-1) v Ohio State (JerryWorld): Ohio State is going to be missing starting QB Kyle McCord (transfer portal), WR Julian Fleming (Portal), and one of its best RBs in Miyan Williams (NFL) Ryan Day has said that WR extraordinaire Marvin Harrison Jr, RB TreVeyon Henderson, TE Cade Stover, DE J.T. Tuimoloau and a number of other defensive players have been practicising and haven’t made their decision on whether to go pro or not. WR Emeka Egbuka has opted in as well as some other draft-eligible

SEC END OF SEASON AWARDS

It’s award season, so we want to throw around some awards ourselves, before those Heisman people get in our way and make us look bad. So here we go. Some of them for the best….some of them for the worst. Thanks for a wonderful season. FEEL FREE TO TELL US WHERE WE WERE WRONG! SEC HEISMAN Jayden Daniels (LSU): Daniels hardly put a foot wrong this season, throwing for 3,800 yards and 40 TDs and rushing for 1,100 yards more and 10 more. He’s on the real Heisman favorite, too. Nominated: Cody Schrader (Missouri), Jaxson Dart (Ole Miss) Jayden Daniels won the Heisman. SEC RUSHER OF THE YEAR Cody Schrader (Missouri): Ran for 1,499 yards and 13 yards in the

Adieu, CBS

Like any good divorces, it finished because of money. CBS had the media deal of a lifetime, only spending $825 million to the SEC on a 15-year contract, giving the schools $55 million per year each and itself the primary rights to each weekend. They refused to move on the ‘Best Contract On Earth’, and when ESPN threw in a $3 billion, 10-year offer for the conference, the SEC jumped at it. And so at this year’s SEC Championship game, we say goodbye to an old friend…. On Saturday afternoon, we bid goodbye to CBS’ coverage on CBS, which has been the partner of the Conference That Means The Most for 20 years. Most of the coverage of the last

Your SEC Turkey Day(s) Preview!

So it’s Thanksgiving. You’ve had 400 pounds worth of turkey, eaten too much bacon, stuffed yourself with too much stuffing, and listened to Uncle Leonard drone on about ‘woke’ society, and you look at your phone. “Gotta go”, you say. “It’s Egg Bowl time”. Thank God for The Egg Bowl. Whatever the year is, and however poor one or both teams are, there are two things that are certain. Firstly, that they will play each other on Thanksgiving Evening and give us a break from Uncle Leonard. Secondly, they absolutely hate each other, to the point that an Ole Miss instagram was firing around alleged conversations between Mississippi State QB Will Rogers and an unnamed Ole Miss chick. On Friday,

Week 10 SEC Previews: UGA v Ole Miss, Tennessee v Missouri etc

This week College Gameday is going to ‘The Classic City’ for Ole Miss’ visit to Georgia, which should be a lot of fun. It should provide Georgia with yet another resume game after the victory over ranked Missouri last week, while a win for Ole Miss will leave them still in the hunt for a New Year’s Day Bowl and perhaps the SEC West title. Oh, and everyone can talk about the Lane Kiffin a little more, too. Elsewhere, it’s No.13 Tennessee at No.14 Missouri, No.8 Alabama at Kentucky, Florida at No.19 LSU, Auburn at South Carolina, Mississippi State at Texas A&M, and the Jefferson Sports Pilot Game in the form of Vanderbilt at South Carolina 1. No.9 Ole Miss
