2015 SEC Season: 50 Things We Can’t Wait For

It’s only the start of June, but we can’t wait for the start of the SEC season. We here at the SEC Football Blog LOVE the College World Series (with half of the field coming from the SEC, what good Southerner couldn’t?), but we still can’t wait until the Fall. Who is OUR SEC Coach Of The Year For 2014?

After SEC coaches gave the SEC Coach of The Year award to Missouri’s Gary Pinkel, we decided that it was high time to rank the SEC coaches in terms of their job for this year. In advance: Will Muschamp didn’t win. 1) Dan Mullen (Mississippi State) We thought he was joking when he said Mississippi State would compete for a SEC title this year. Well, it did. And a play-off berth. And they went to Tuscaloosa and played Alabama hard. And beat Auburn. And went to LSU and won for the first time in years. And had a No.1 spot. Happy Thanksgiving! Things all our SEC teams are thankful for….

Happy Thanksgiving! As it’s a time of gratitude, we’d like to point out a few things that our 14 teams’ fans are grateful for. And before that, we’d like to point out as a unit that we’re grateful that ESPN has given us more money than GOD to rebuild our stadiums and our weight rooms and make us gods of recruiting. We are grateful for SEC Commissioner Mike Slive, and we’re grateful – most of all – for SEC fans, who rock our stadiums, especially when it’s a SEC vs SEC match-up. We’re grateful for Hate Weeks, great tailgating on lawns, groves and rivers, and beautiful co-eds and cheerleaders. We’re grateful for mascots, for cool uniforms, for cowbells and shakers.

Alabama’s Nick Saban top-paid coach in college football

Unsurprisingly, Alabama head coach Nick Saban is the top-ranked coach in college football, USA Today has reported. Despite a season where he didn’t win his bowl game and lost to Auburn, Saban – who’s Crimson Tide team is now the top-ranked team in the nation – still earned $7.1m in total pay in 2013 – including a base salary of $6.9m. Texas A&M’s Kevin Sumlin was the second-most paid in the SEC and the fourth-best coach in college football, pulling in $5m in base salary, and $5.006m total. Muschamp out at Florida: Who’s going to take over?

Will Muschamp has been fired as the head coach of Florida, the school announced on Sunday. After a terrible 2013, it was always going to be difficult for Will Muschamp in 2014. After getting blown out at home to Missouri, it looked as though Muschamp might be fired a few weeks ago. However, a shocking win over Georgia and a win over Vanderbilt seemed to buy the Gator boss sometime….until everything unravelled at home to South Carolina on Saturday, when the Gators lost 23-20 in overtime in a game they should have won. LSU and Alabama finish #Hateweek With Actual Game: Week 11 SEC Preview

One of the funniest things about the LSU vs Alabama rivalry is the amount of crap that gets talked between the fans. Fans of both sides (using #LSUHateweek and #BamaHateWeek hashtag symbols) have peppered each other with pretty unoriginal Twitter messages all week long. The great thing is is that at 8pm ET both sides are going to shut the **** up because there’s an actual game on, and we can focus on bitching about the game, not which side was more screwed by more refs. SEC West’s pretty and the SEC East’s ugly: Week 10 SEC Power Rankings

The reason why we’re so late on our SEC Power Rankings is that we’re trying to work out what in God’s name is going on with the two SECs. The SEC West is very strong. We know this because they all beat each other, and the games are generally pretty tight (apart from Arkansas, who loses tight games). The teams beat each other in the SEC East, but all the teams, are, er, very poor. Therefore, we’re going to rank the SEC East teams, and the SEC West teams. Georgia dismisses yet another player

If there was a college football play-off for teams that throw players off the team, Georgia and Texas would be your undisputed No.1 teams. Georgia probably took the lead a bit (partnered with Texas letting a player back on the team) when Freshman DB Shaq Jones was booted after being arrested for misdemeanour theft by shoplifting. Richt said in a statement: “We have certain expectations and standards that we require of all our players.
