AP Poll, ESPN Polls are out: Where SEC teams stand

First of all, the SEC could get four in the Play-Off (Georgia, Texas, Tennessee and one of Alabama, Ole Miss and South Carolina), but it’s unlikely. But the SEC Championship is set: Georgia v Texas in Atlanta. The AP Poll has made everything really interesting for SEC teams. We’ll keep you updated with the Play-Off Committee’s thoughts on Tuesday. Oh, and we think the SEC Championship Game is a waste of time. All the game is going to give us is injuries.  And both sets of fans — while there is certainly going to be a massive boost to their egos by winning the conference — would rather have a week (or two) off before the play-offs.  TEAMS DEFINITELY IN

Thanks to craziness, Georgia’s back in Atlanta

Thanks to untold madness happening around them, the Georgia Bulldogs are back in the SEC Championship Game. They will face off against the winner of Texas and Texas A&M, who play on Thanksgiving Saturday. Texas A&M – despite losing to Auburn – will get in because they win the head-to-head against Texas, while Texas would go to Atlanta to face a rematch with the Bulldogs if they beat Texas A&M – therefore winning out. It’s gonna be one hell of a Saturday. Right now, trying to rank everyone is stupid, bearing in mind how much Ole Miss kicked itself in the nuts against Florida, how Texas A&M lost in four overtimes to a dreadful Auburn (thank God for the 2-pt

SEC Preview: This SEC week is going to be a strugglebus….

First of all, there are five SEC teams getting in the College Football Play-Off as things stand. That’s Texas, Alabama, Ole Miss, Georgia and Tennessee. Texas A&M and possibly South Carolina are on the outside looking in. Of course Greg Sankey more in, but so does every conference. The street-fight is going to get boring, and we’ll going to give you the lowdown on tie-breakers next week. The second thing: This SEC week is a struggle to preview, because most of the games aren’t great – one of this blog’s endless bug-bears is that any of these games actually exist at this time of year. SO, GAMES WE ARE INTERESTED IN:  No.5 Indiana at No.2 Ohio State (-12.5): We’d love to

Texas? Georgia? A&M? Tennessee? Who’s going to get in?

OK, so it’s about that time when we try and work out what in the hell’s going on. With the four-teams-getting-selected-to-the-play-off-thing, it was pretty easy. Generally, the two teams in the SEC Championship got in, and the rest was the other guys. But now, it’s 4 conference winners (SEC, Big Ten, ACC, Big 12) + Notre Dame (on a good season) + The top non-4 conference team. That means that it’s a bun-fight of epic proportions for the other three spots. If you by the AP Top 25, then here are the teams in: Oregon Ohio State  Texas Penn State Indiana Notre Dame Alabama Georgia Ole Miss Tennessee  Miami   Boise State The Top Big 12 team, by the way, is

Texas is on top, but Vandy continues to rise

1. Texas (6-0): The Texas – Oklahoma game was ESPN’s showpiece game this week, and it wasn’t close. Texas wasn’t good in the first half of the game, but they got better as the time went on and eviscerated a hapless Sooners team. As much fun as I’ve made of them, this team is great all over the park. The big test will next week against some team called Georgia. 2. Texas A&M (5-1): Smashed Bye Week into the ground, but reason they’ve vaulted Georgia is the evidence of the week before, when there was no playing with their food against Missouri. 3. Georgia (5-1): Don’t imprison Kirby Smart for pushing that Mississippi State player, get him investigated by the

WEEK 6: SEC RANKINGS ARE ALL ****ED UP

I joked on Saturday night that my SEC rankings were this: 1-15: F**k knows 16: Mississippi State. And that’s probably right. Texas is the No.1 team in the nation and – by virtue of not playing while the unbridled carnage was happening around – would go as No.1 in my view. But are they really better than Georgia? Does Vanderbilt’s win over Alabama automatically mean that they are better than Alabama? Or Arkansas’ win over Tennessee mean that Sam Pittman’s team is better than the Vols? If you believe those guys at the AP Poll – who have Texas first, Georgia fifth (behind Ohio State, Oregon and Penn State), Miami sixth and Alabama seventh. Tennessee is 8th, Ole Miss 9th, LSU 13th,

Week 4 Preview: Tennessee and Oklahoma in the ‘Stoops Bowl’!

If Tennessee and Oklahoma are playing the ‘Heupel Bowl’ on Saturday, then Florida and Mississippi State are playing “Horses**t Bowl” in Starkville. There’s also Arkansas and Auburn in the latest referendum on Sam Pittman’s job, Vanderbilt at Missouri, Ohio at Kentucky, Bowling Green at Texas A&M, Akron at South Carolina, Ole Miss’ latest joke of a home game when they play Georgia Southern, and who could forget Texas and Louisiana-Monroe? Oh, and there’s the LSU v UCLA game, which would have been a lot of fun two years ago. This year’s probably going to be a massacre. Anywhere, here are our Week 4 Preview, which are once again in order of games we’ll be caring about:   No.6 Tennessee (-6.5)

Week 2 rankings: Texas is the King of the SEC (For now)

Texas fans are some of the most arrogant fans in the country. I would know, because I’ve lived here since 2019. When they aren’t beating anyone, they “should”, and when they are beating people, they’ll never lose. So when they moved to the SEC, they got a bit more honest. They thought they might struggle a bit, and started making their excuses. And then NIL came along, and Texas fans realized that all that oil money that had a burnt orange tinge to it could be thrown at players, and the school would pretty much overnight become the powerhouse it once was. Anyway, it’s all working out nicely. So here are our ranks: 1.Texas (2-0): Went to Michigan for one

WEEK 2 SEC Predictions: Can Texas beat Michigan?

When a National title pretender goes to last year’s National Championship winner — and it’s two of the biggest name’s in college football – everyone’s gonna be pretty excited. College Gameday AND Fox’s Preview Show are going to be at Texas v Michigan. The place is obviously sold-out. It’s a massive test of where both teams are. Elsewhere in the SEC, it’s going to be a fun game between ranked NC State and Tennessee,  No.16 Oklahoma State visiting Arkansas, and the first SEC Conference match-up between South Carolina and Kentucky. And there’s also the match-up between Mississippi State and Arizona State which will be a riveting indication of wonderful football. So here we go (in terms of games weren’t interested

SEC END OF SEASON AWARDS

It’s award season, so we want to throw around some awards ourselves, before those Heisman people get in our way and make us look bad. So here we go. Some of them for the best….some of them for the worst. Thanks for a wonderful season. FEEL FREE TO TELL US WHERE WE WERE WRONG! SEC HEISMAN Jayden Daniels (LSU): Daniels hardly put a foot wrong this season, throwing for 3,800 yards and 40 TDs and rushing for 1,100 yards more and 10 more. He’s on the real Heisman favorite, too. Nominated: Cody Schrader (Missouri), Jaxson Dart (Ole Miss) Jayden Daniels won the Heisman. SEC RUSHER OF THE YEAR Cody Schrader (Missouri): Ran for 1,499 yards and 13 yards in the
