Heeeeeeere’s Johnny! Texas A&M 2013 Preview

Furious about Texas’ Longhorn Network, the Aggies went to the SEC, and the conference is all the better for it, people. And while Texas’ coaching staff – and defense – was getting shredded during 2012, Texas A&M were making the biggest waves it has done since Bear Bryant was coaching back in the day of the Junction Boys. Kevin Sumlin arrived at a press conference almost upon arrival, and said: “I want to be around people who want to play at the highest level in the best conference in America. If you’re scared of that, get a dog.” Well, the Aggies were the dog in 2012, chomping on their new SEC West rivals. They are the most celebrated side of

Report: Johnny Manziel to be investigated by the NCAA

According to a report on ESPN, Texas A&M superstar Heisman-winning quarterback Johnny Manziel is being investigated by the NCAA for signing hundreds of photos and getting paid for it. ESPN’s Outside The Lines program cites two sources that said: “The Texas A&M quarterback agreed to sign memorabilia in exchange for a five-figure flat fee during his trip to Miami for the BCS National Championship Game. Both sources said they witnessed the signing, though neither saw the actual exchange of money.” The accused photograph broker is Drew Tieman, who allegedly approached Manziel at Miami Airport when he touched down to watch the National Championship Game between Alabama and Notre Dame. If he is found guilty, the report says, “Manziel has violated NCAA

Johnny Football & Co light up Day 2 at the SEC Media Days

Well, it was over early – unlike a lot of Johnny Manziel’s evenings this off-season. The Heisman-winning quarterback buzzed into the SEC Media Days, faced the media, and buzzed out. We would go in-depth about his riveting and enchanting interviews, but instead, we’ll pick out the best bits from everybody on the podium in Hoover, AL. JOHNNY MANZIEL On getting booted out of the Manning Camp: “I simply overslept. There’s nothing more to talk, and the rumors about the other things weren’t really true….Hearing Eli and Peyton afterward and the key thing was they wanted me to come back next year, that was great because I had such a great time working with the kids I had and doing some things we do at A&M.

Texas A&M opener postponed due to Hurricane Isaac

Hurricane Isaac has already taken with it one SEC casualty – Texas A&M’s first game as a SEC school – on the road at Louisiana Tech on Thursday night. The game has been rescheduled for October 13th. And while this gives Texas A&M another week to prepare for the visit of the Florida Gators to Kyle Field, it also means that Kevin Sumlin’s first game as the Aggies’ head coach is against one of the best defenses in the SEC and possibly in college football.  Usually ‘big-time’ schools will schedule a smaller program to give themselves match fitness before the all-important conference season. Louisiana Tech said that this was due to fan safety rather than a worry about weather conditions,

Aggies News: Brandon Williams will not play for Texas A&M this year

Incoming backfield transfer Brandon Williams will not play for Texas A&M this year, the NCAA has ruled. On Wednesday night the powers-that-be at the NCAA ruled that sophomore full-back Brandon Williams, who transferred over from Oklahoma to College Station in an effort to see more playing time (and play in the SEC, obviously!), will not play in 2012, despite a waiver application being sent to the ruling authority. That’s a blow to an Aggies offense that’s hoping that Christine Michael – who was a top tandem player with Cyrus Gray last season before he got injured – can stay healthy for 12 games. BOTTOM LINE: This isn’t a major blow for Aggies Athletics, but it’s a blow nevertheless. In the
