For Kentucky, it was a tale of two seasons in one in 2014. The first half, the Wildcats went 5-1, with the only loss coming in triple overtime to Florida. Texas A&M and Arkansas match-up highlights Week 5 SEC plate: Preview

We’ll be honest. This SEC schedule on paper looked pretty strong when the season started, but right now, it’s actually pretty week. Look, we get that the match-up Texas A&M and a suddenly-reborn Arkansas in JerryWorld is pretty cool. South Carolina’s got College Gameday coming to its doors for the visit of Maty Mauk and Missouri, and if Tennessee trip to Georgia’s as good as it was last season, the game’s going to be a treat. And so, it’s set up. After a glorious bat-crap crazy Saturday in which Auburn beat Alabama to a place at a National Championship Game with a 106-yard field goal return for a TD, Missouri earned its spot in Atlanta by beating Texas A&M in Columbia by 7 in a tough, tough game, Georgia came back from 20 to beat Georgia Tech in two overtimes (we see you, Todd Gurley), Mississippi State won the Egg Bowl because Bo Wallace slipped over and fumbled on route to the end zone, LSU beat Arkansas with a fling with 40 seconds left with their replacement quarterback, Aaron Jennings (who we hadn’t heard of until now), and South Carolina won the Palmetto War against Clemson (Clemson

Right, it’s ‘Hot Seat’ time in the SEC, and by these standards, it’s pretty quiet. SEC Power Rankings Week 5: Red Rises To The Top

OK, so the best game of the week (predictably) was in Athens, when Georgia took on LSU. The game wasn’t exactly defensively-minded, with the Dawgs coming out 44-41. In other worlds, Alabama reminded Hugh Freeze and Ole Miss that they had a lot of work to do still, while South Carolina and, er, Tennessee survived scares against mighty UCF and the even mightier South Alabama. Oh, and the Tyler Murphy experiment in Florida rolled to 2-0 after they slapped Kentucky. So here are our SEC Power Rankings: 1) Alabama – Beat Ole Miss comfortably. There are still worries about the running game (which came good in the second half), but the defense is one of the best in the SEC.

Tennessee Chomped, Tigers beat Tigers: Week 4 SEC Rankings

It wasn’t a good week for Jeff Driskel. He saw his season end with a broken fibula against Tennessee…..which he broke while throwing a Pick 6. That capped what has been a fairly awful start to the year. But the good news for the Gators is that they bounced back with replacement QB Tyler Murphy, and the Gators chomped Tennessee, who looked dreadful offensively AND defensively. Oh, and LSU beat Auburn in rainy Death Valley. And Arkansas embarrassed the SEC by losing at Rutgers. Good news for Cocks: Marcus Lattimore has ligament damage, but no more

There was good news for South Carolina Gamecocks fans:Marcus Lattimore’s injury isn’t as bad as feared. A lot of South Carolina fans were fearing that the junior running back’s sickening injury in the Gamecocks’ victory over Tennessee on Saturday would mean an end to their player’s school – and NFL – career. As was Twitter, that suddenly abounded with rumors of fractured femurs and destroyed ligaments. But South Carolina said in a statement: “University of South Carolina junior running back Marcus Lattimore suffered a significant impact to the front of his right knee during the Tennessee game on Saturday. SEC Preseason Preview: Can South Carolina dominate the SEC East?

In Steve Spurrier, South Carolina is coached by one of the greatest coaches the SEC (and College Football), has ever seen. SEC Preseason Preview: Can Florida return to old glories?

The Florida Gators are a National Power. Sure, they may have sucked pre-Spurrier, but in the last three decades, they’ve been almost always extremely competitive (if you ignore the Ron Zook years). Since 1991, Florida has won eight SEC titles, and three National Titles. They also haven’t missed a bowl game since 1991, either. That’s a pretty great record. But 2011, after Urban Meyer’s decision to leave the Florida family and go to ESPN (for the year, as it turned out, because he managed to recover sufficiently to take up a role at Ohio State), the Muschamp era started with a sputter.
