SEC mandates masks on sidelines, increased testing

The SEC has announced a number of things to keep players safe during the 2020 College Football season, including increased testing and mandating masks on all sideline personnel. Players will be tested six days and three games before days, and masks “will be required to wear face coverings on the sideline and physical distancing will be employed to the extent possible”. Testing will be done through a third party which is has been put in (obviously) to assuage worries about schools deliberately scewing testing in their own favour. Report: Five Alabama players test positive for COVID-19

Five Alabama players have tested positive for COVID-19. BamaInsider didn’t say who the players were, and the University of Alabama did not disclose their names, confirming “player privacy regulations” to Simone Eli of CBS-42. “I’m told the players were tested Tuesday, practiced together Wednesday, and received the positive results today (Thurs). The SEC cuts all Spring Games

Doing their bit against COVID-19, the SEC has cancelled all of the Spring Games. The conference suspended all athletic activity until April 15th, although it would not be surprising if that is longer. This will leave a lot of coaches and players in the ‘corridor of uncertainty’. Players will want to know if they should stay around or transfer. Coaches will want to find out who their No.1 QB is in a live game.
