Four Georgia players were arrested on Monday night for theft, the Athens Banner-Herald has reported. The four arrested are safety Tray Matthews, defensive linemen Jonathan Taylor and James DeLoach and wide receiver Uriah LeMay. The four were arrested and charged with ‘theft by deception’. Here’s the definition of what the crime means on Reference.com: “There are a number of crimes in the state of Georgia that fall under the definition of theft by deception. Clemson suspends four for Georgia clash

Clemson has suspended four players before the season-opening clash against Georgia. Defensive end Corey Crawford, guard David Beasley, cornerback Garry Peters and offensive tackle Shaq Anthony were all told that they weren’t be going to Sanford Stadium to face the Bulldogs….who dismissed starting safety Josh Harvey-Clemons earlier this off-season. Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said: “A huge part of our program is teaching accountability, responsibility and that there are consequences for your actions. These are four good young men, but they broke a team rule and as a result, they will each miss a game. I am hopeful that they will learn and grow from this and have a great 2014 season on and off the field.” BOTTOM LINE: Crawford’s going to

Georgia boots star safety

Georgia has revealed that it has dismissed star safety Josh Harvey-Clemsons. Harvey-Clemons, who had already been suspended for the first three games of the season for more problems involving his relationship with cannabis, as well as Georgia’s 2014 Bowl Game loss to Nebraska. Georgia has not made any other details available. BOTTOM LINE: Harvey-Clemons being booted off the team is hardly surprising, but it doesn’t do Georgia’s secondary any favors going into its mouthwatering clashes at the start of the season with Clemson and Georgia.

UGA Offensive Linesman in transfer turnaround

Georgia offensive linesman Mark Beard has had a change of heart and will remain in the program, according to multiple reports. Apparently Beard had a change of mine and asked Georgia head coach Mark Richt to take him back. He’ll be part of the battle to be a starter for the Dawgs in 2014. Bulldawg Illustrated quoted Georgia head coach Mark Richt as saying: “Sometimes making a decision and living it out are two different things.  As I’ve mentioned before the same thing happened to me.  As a player I told my coach I had decided to leave for what I thought were all the right reasons.  But after a few days, I realized it was a bad decision and asked to come back.

Georgia has a 5-star day at National Signing Day

Usually when it comes to Georgia fans, they like to swear in the general direction of Mark Richt. They blame him when the Bulldogs lose. They blame him when the Bulldog players get arrested. They blame him when the Bulldog players get injured. But now, Georgia fans are actually happy with Mark Richt- especially after National Signing Day. The Georgia coach landed No.14 player on the ESPN 300 list DE Lorenzo Carter (despite the close attentions of Florida, LSU and Florida State), which definitely got the fans buzzing – especially those who had been critical of Richt for not filling out his staff after defensive co-ordinator Todd Grantham decided to leave for Louisville. The 6ft 5, 324lb player said: “The defense

Georgia suspends top safety for first three games of 2014

Georgia has suspended top safety Josh Harvey-Clemons for the first three games of the 2014 season after once again ‘violating team rules’, following on from the player’s suspension from the Bulldogs’ loss in the Gator Bowl to Nebraska. Harvey-Clemons will miss Georgia’s home game against Clemson, the road game at South Carolina, and the home game against Troy. With him missing (and if there’s no immediate improvement with new DC Jeremy Pruitt), the Dawgs could easily go 1-2. Harvey-Clemons wasn’t allowed to travel with the team to the Gator Bowl after he reportedly violated the school’s drug abuse policy for a second time. He had already been suspended for the first game of the season against Clemson after a drug

Georgia hires FSU DC

Georgia has hired Florida State defensive co-ordinator Jeremy Pruitt in a blockbuster deal. Pruitt – who only a few days ago lifted the last-ever BCS Championship with the Seminoles – said:  “This is an outstanding professional and personal opportunity. I’m looking forward to meeting the current players and getting on the road to visit with recruits.” Florida State was best in the nation at scoring defense, third in least total yards per game given up, and second in turnovers (gained). OnlineAthens.com noted that Pruitt also worked under Nick Saban, and runs a 3-4 defensive scheme…..like Grantham. Georgia fans will be hoping that they turn out better than Grantham’s defense of 2013 which – although young – struggled to keep up

Badgers, Bulldogs, and .341: SEC Bowl Preview

The blessing of bowl season in the SEC is that you don’t have to overdo it with SEC previews until pretty much the last minute. Juco National Signing Day: Big Wins for Texas A&M and Auburn; Saban solid

Junior College National Signing Day which started Wednesday had some pretty major headlines.  Auburn continued their incredible run of success in the recruiting field by persuading the No. 1 JUCO prospect in the country previous LSU commitment WR D’haquille Williams to sign for the Tigers, but also lineman DaVonte Lambert to not play for Tennessee but play on the Plains. Lambert and Williams will be joined by lineman Xaveer Dampeer, as well as Willams’ teammate Derrick Moncrief, who plays safety. – Texas A&M: British offensive guard Jermaine Eluemunor – who had switched from UCLA to Arkansas to College Station  in one of the more eyebrow-raising and indecisive recruiting sagas – stayed with the Aggies to pen his decision. The Aggies beat the two

Georgia/Florida Game Helps SEC Week 10 slate

TWe’re not going to lie….we needed a rest after the shenanigans of a last few weeks, and with the weakness of the Week 10 slate, we (thankfully) will be able to focus on who’s going to hit wide left and wide right in the Miami vs Florida State game, because after 3.30pm, the SEC slate just ain’t good. There are ZERO….ZERO Top 25 match-ups between SEC teams this week. Don’t get us wrong, if Florida and Georgia hadn’t gotten so injured, we think that Florida and Georgia could have been THE SEC East decider and The Biggest Game In The Country in Week 10. But it wasn’t to be. So come on Georgia and Florida, save our lives…. SO HERE ARE
