Quinnen Williams: Alabama over Auburn

Four-star defensive tackle Quinnen Williams has decided to go to Alabama instead of Auburn. The 6-4, 265lb star from Wenonah School in Birmingham, AL had committed to Auburn before de-committing from The Plains on June 5th without reason and looking over his options. AL.com noted that Williams was Auburn’s third decommittment of the year. ESPN Scout said about the player: “Williams is a defensive line prospect with very good overall size and outstanding playing strength with a frame that can continue to be developed and support more good mass with time in Alabama’s weight program. Removing the Confederate Flag won’t rob the SEC of racism

In South Carolina last week, the world was appalled when a Dylann Roof walked into Emanuel African Methodist Church in Charleston and shot it up, killing nine people. It was one of the most unspeakable tragedies since…..the last unspeakable tragedy involving weapons and innocent people. 4-star safety commits to LSU

Four-star safety Eric Monroe has committed to LSU. Monroe, from North Shore HS in Houston, TX, decided that he wanted to be a Tiger ahead of Texas A&M. The 6ft, 180lb player is ranked the 6th-best player in Texas, the second safety in the whole country, and the 31st-best player overall. He is an Under-Armour All-American. ESPN Insider noted: “LSU had several factors working in its favor, including the Tigers’ connections on the North Shore High School coaching staff, Monroe’s friends already on campus in Baton Rouge, the school’s history of sending defensive backs to the NFL, and proximity to his East Houston home.” Monroe had offers from a lot of schools in the SEC apart from Texas A&M and

Arkansas gets 3-star LB to commit

Arkansas has captured its eighth commitment of the 2016 recruiting class after OLB Alexy Jean-Baptiste decided he wanted to be a Razorback on Monday. The 3-star recruit is from Coconut Creek HS in Pompano Beach, FL, and is 6-3 in height and weighs a tidy 205 lb. 24-7Sports.com rates him as the 55th-overall best linebacker in the nation, the 104th-best player in Florida, and 786th-best player in Florida. He had 26 offers, including Kentucky, Miami, Michigan State, Wisconsin and Louisville, but Arkansas won a 3-way battle between themselves, the Hurricanes, and North Carolina.

Arkansas, Vandy get huge O-Linemen commitments

Arkansas and Vanderbilt have both scored huge offensive linesmen commitments. 6-7, 270lb Kellen Diesch from Byron Nelson High School in Trophy Club, TX is ranked as the 83rd-overall players in Texas, the 48th overall offensive linesman and 575th player in the country overall. Vanderbilt’s big commitment for the weekend was from 6-7, 305lb Devin Cochran from Greater Atlanta High School in Norcross, GA. Cochran is ranked the 84th overall player in Georgia and the 79th overall offensive tackle in the country. He is also ranked the 906th overall player in the country. OFFERS Diesch was chased by Arkansas, Alabama, Tennessee, Missouri Texas, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, as well as TCU, Baylor and TCU among the 30 offers he received

It’s only the start of June, but we can’t wait for the start of the SEC season. We here at the SEC Football Blog LOVE the College World Series (with half of the field coming from the SEC, what good Southerner couldn’t?), but we still can’t wait until the Fall. LSU O-Lineman arrested on domestic abuse charges

LSU offensive linesman Jevonte Domond has been arrested on felony domestic abuse charges, according to reports. According to Ross Dellenger of The Advocate, the 6-6, 310lb freshman offensive tackle was arrested on “felony domestic abuse battery with strangulation” charges after Domond lifted his girlfriend off the ground and dropped her. The LSU team suspended the player, a spokesman from the team told The Advocate, although Les Miles didn’t offer further comment. Domond came to LSU from Glendale Community College and played for the Tigers in one game, the report said. He was thought to be challenging for a starting job on the LSU side, but now that doesn’t look like a possibility.
