Florida Gators Looking Toothless: SEC Power Rankings After Week 11

If you think that things couldn’t have gotten a lot worse for the Florida Gators football program, then they did. They got a lot worse. They got Put-Will-Muschamp-On-The-Freaking-Hotseat Worse. That’ll happen when you lose at home to Vanderbilt for the first time since two years after the Second World War ended (that’s 1947 folks!). Elsewhere in the SEC, Alabama got a fright from LSU but dealt with them unsympathetically, we saw the Good Johnny and Bad Johnny at The Last Home Game at the old Kyle Field (but A&M scored 50 which was enough to beat Mississippi State), and there were wins for Ole Miss, Missouri, Auburn and Georgia. Anyway, here’s your SEC Power Rankings. Hint: Florida isn’t No.1. 1.

Alabama-LSU re-takes focus of college football: Week 11 SEC Predictions

So, it was a pretty crazy Thursday after all. Baylor was restricted for a quarter-or-so then broke out the whooping stick on Oklahoma. Then, unbeaten Oregon rolled into Stanford….and lost 26-20 in a game that they trailed 26-0 and were owned in. Anyway, Saturday night’s alright for fighting…..or Alabama to play LSU. The game last year was incredible, but not a lot of people are anticipating the 2013 version from Tuscalossa to be that good. Anyway, here’s your Week 11 Predictions. LSU AT ALABAMA Because of the size of Thursday’s games, the LSU-Alabama has been slightly overshadowed this week. There’s also the fact that LSU’s losses to Georgia and Ole Miss means that they currently stand 13th in the rankings

Why The SEC Should be Watching Oregon/Stanford/Baylor/Oklahoma on Thursday Night

To steal an Elton John song, Thursday’s night’s alright for fightin’. Because this Thursday night, I’m going for forgo my ‘But it’s not SEC football’ and concentrate on not one but TWO ranked battles going on elsewhere in the country between the fast cats of Baylor and Oklahoma and THAT GAME between Oregon and Stanford. And you know what? There’s a few reasons why SEC fans should watch: 1) The winner of either game could be Alabama’s National Championship opponent. We forecast ‘Bama to make the SEC title game, win that, and go to the National Championship Game. Everyone’s talking about Florida State, Oregon or perhaps Baylor battling it out with the Crimson Tide in Pasadena. Well, both Baylor and

Gamecocks Keep Coming: SEC Week 10 Power Rankings

Georgia 23, Florida 20….and….er…..nothing else in the SEC was really that interesting or that close. 1) ALABAMA: Nick Saban filled Bryant-Denny stadium on Saturday by telling the fans that he wanted the fans for all four quarters against BYE WEEK. Alabama won 57-3, and Nick Saban is said to be STILL screaming at Kirby Smart about it…. 2) AUBURN: Continued to prove that they can get over a potential upset hurdle (Phil Steele predicted that Arkansas would score the upset on the ESPNU College Football podcast (although we didn’t agree), but burning some pig on Saturday night. The biggest argument happened when Arkansas coach Bret Bielema thought Anthony Swain was timewasting by falling over during an Arkansas drive. Matt

Arrests at LSU are Les Miles’ headache

Before the season, running back Jeremy Hill was arrested for blindsiding a guy outside Tigerland in Baton Rouge. Les Miles toyed with throwing him off the team, but instead the team voted on whether to keep him on the team….and would you believe it, the LSU players decided to keep their star running back. The judge was equally kind to him. Now, Les Miles must be praying that the judge and team are kind to his back-ups and future LSU stars, too. In the space of two weeks Miles has been forced to suspend freshman running back Jeryl Brazil (for his second arrest in two months) and redshirt freshman cornerback Kavahra Holmes indefinitely (for getting into a fight near a

Georgia/Florida Game Helps SEC Week 10 slate

TWe’re not going to lie….we needed a rest after the shenanigans of a last few weeks, and with the weakness of the Week 10 slate, we (thankfully) will be able to focus on who’s going to hit wide left and wide right in the Miami vs Florida State game, because after 3.30pm, the SEC slate just ain’t good. There are ZERO….ZERO Top 25 match-ups between SEC teams this week. Don’t get us wrong, if Florida and Georgia hadn’t gotten so injured, we think that Florida and Georgia could have been THE SEC East decider and The Biggest Game In The Country in Week 10. But it wasn’t to be. So come on Georgia and Florida, save our lives…. SO HERE ARE

Alabama stays No.1 after BCS Week 2 standings released; Oregon up to No.2

So after Florida State fans were shouting: “Bring on Bama!” after the Week 1 of the BCS Standings were released, the computers flipped off the Seminoles for beating the living crap out of awful NC State, preferring Oregon’s hardly-routine-but-went-Ferrari-in-the-second-half win over UCLA instead. Meanwhile, Bama continued to please the critics by smashing Tennessee (which suddenly looks a little better in terms of ‘quality wins’ after beating South Carolina and taking Georgia close), even though the term ‘non-conference quality win’ could hardly be applied to Virginia Tech, who  lost to Duke. Meanwhile, Ohio State moved up after putting 60 on Penn State, while Stanford did the same after shushing Oregon State’s offense 20-12. Missouri dropped to ninth, and Auburn, Texas A&M,

Gamecocks Suddenly Back in SEC race: Week 9 SEC Power Rankings

This week wasn’t exactly that weird in the SEC. Missouri’s heart was broken by their kicker (and their defense, we’d like to add), but after that, Vandy was crushed by Texas A&M (who still gave up 24), Alabama slammered Tennessee (see what we’ve done there?), Auburn beat the ‘over’ against Florida Atlantic, and LSU was asleep in the first half against Furman (went 7-0 and 10-7 down before exploding and winning out 48-16)….but it didn’t cost them. We were going to go with a funny power rankings list but it’s been a long weekend, and we’re trying to get our head around the SEC tiebreakers ‘What Ifs’. 1) Alabama: Crushed Tennessee at home. It’s what we expected, if we’re honest. There

Can Mizzou Continue Their Run For Atlanta? SEC Week 9 Predictions

FLast week was one HELL of a weekend for Georgia, Florida, Texas A&M and LSU, who all saw their National Championship and SEC Championship hopes eviscerated by Vanderbilt, Missouri, Auburn and Ole Miss respectively. Meanwhile, The Tide rolled. Anyway, things are a bit easier to predict in the SEC this weekend, but we’re nevertheless giving our tips. Georgia and Florida fans, you can actually watch this weekend: This week’s not involving you. GAME OF THE WEEK SOUTH CAROLINA AT MISSOURI We can’t understand why College Gameday isn’t in Columbia, or CBS Sports have decided to go for a horror of a game of Alabama and Tennessee, which is going to be over by half-time (charitably). Anyway, Missouri’s beaten defenses with

Under The Hot Seat: 10 SEC Coordinators At Risk Of Getting Fired

Right, it’s ‘Hot Seat’ time in the SEC, and by these standards, it’s pretty quiet. Maybe it’s because there was a bit of balance in the conference this week, or maybe it’s because everyone’s muttering along, quietly ____ off that things aren’t going the way they wanted it. You know, apart from Alabama. Anyone, one of the SEC’s biggest questions has surrounded our goddawful defenses (anyone but Alabama and maybe Florida). And while we would love to give a Top 14 list of HEAD COACHES who might get their ass booted come the end of the season, that comes later. We thank The ‘Around Aggieland’ podcast for inspiring us. They were pretty pissed at defensive coordinator Mark Snyder. So here
