News came through yesterday that Myles Brennan – the heir to Joe Burrow before he was hurt in 2020 – injured a shoulder and will need a season-ending operation this year, too. According to widespread reporting, it looks as though Oklahoma and Texas will be let into the SEC sometime next week in a 13-1 voting landslide. According to Austin-American Statesman writer Kirk Bohls, who’s as inside-as-you-get with the Longhorn family, the SEC will vote to extend invitations to the ‘Horns and Sooners sometime next week, with only one school objecting to what’s going on. Texas and Oklahoma have reached out to the SEC about leaving the Big 12 and joining College Football’s best conference, the Houston Chronicle has reported. The news came out as Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher was giving his press conference at SEC Media Days. When asked about it, he said that it wasn’t surprising they’d want to join because ‘We’ve got the greatest league in ball.’ Apparently, Texas A&M was furious with the thought of their two sworn enemies coming into the conference – particularly as one of the reasons they left in the first place was because ESPN paid Texas an awful lot of money for its own TV network.
