Yesterday the SEC invited Texas and Oklahoma to the party, starting 2025. Texas and Oklahoma unanimously accepted it – probably the first time they’ve agreed on anything in 401 years. So here we are. Oklahoma, Texas could be in the SEC by the end of next week

OK, I was wrong. I thought: ‘There’s no way Texas and Oklahoma are going to get into the SEC’. Yeah….so…. According to widespread reporting, it looks as though Oklahoma and Texas will be let into the SEC sometime next week in a 13-1 voting landslide. According to Austin-American Statesman writer Kirk Bohls, who’s as inside-as-you-get with the Longhorn family, the SEC will vote to extend invitations to the ‘Horns and Sooners sometime next week, with only one school objecting to what’s going on. Why Texas and Oklahoma won’t join the SEC

Texas and Oklahoma have reached out to the SEC about leaving the Big 12 and joining College Football’s best conference, the Houston Chronicle has reported. The news came out as Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher was giving his press conference at SEC Media Days. When asked about it, he said that it wasn’t surprising they’d want to join because ‘We’ve got the greatest league in ball.’ Apparently, Texas A&M was furious with the thought of their two sworn enemies coming into the conference – particularly as one of the reasons they left in the first place was because ESPN paid Texas an awful lot of money for its own TV network. Sankey: Games will be forfeited if teams cancel due to COVID

Greg Sankey is doing something that he hadn’t done for six months – telling SEC schools that if COVID numbers within teams are so bad that they are under the 53 person scholarship limit, they will forfeit games. “We still have roster minimums that exist, just like last year,” the SEC Commissioner said in his remarks at SEC Media Days. “What I’ve identified for consideration among our membership is we remove those roster minimums and you’re expected to play as scheduled. That means your team needs to be healthy to compete, and if not, that game won’t be rescheduled. And thus, to dispose of the game, the ‘forfeit’ word comes up at this point. SEC Preview: Will The Great Arkansas Turnaround continue?

Although their fans will continue to be made fun of because of the above pic, last year was a turnaround for the Arkansas Razorbacks faithful. After the team installed Sam Pittman as its new coach and Barry Odom as defensive coordinator, the Pig Troupe went an encouraging 3-7 last year, and they were only completely blown out by the uberoffenses of Alabama (52-3) and Florida (63-5). They pulled off a great upset at Ole Miss, and had wins over Mississippi State and Tennessee, and they lost three games by under 5 points. Can Vanderbilt erase the Hell of 2020?

Although the Sarah Fuller news made us all smile, last season was so bad for the Vanderbilt Commodores before the season with the transfers and opt-outs that the 0-9 season that happened seemed inevitable from Day 1, and it came true in an awful way. Several times they played like an episode of ‘300’, fighting monster schools valiantly with a roster of under 53, but still playing the games anyway. It was sad, and not even uplifting. So who wins and loses the College Football Play-Off Expansion?

  The powers-that-be who runs the College Football Play-Off have recommended that the play-off be expanded from four to 12 teams. The bracket would include the six highest-ranked college football champions plus six teams as determined by the College Football Play-Off Committee, ostensibly giving the Committee even more power than they had when recommending four. We don’t know who would do the ranking for the other 6, but we can only hope it’s the AP. The SEC backed the idea (for very good reason because if it had been last year they would have seen four SEC teams get in (Alabama, Texas A&M, Georgia and Florida), as did the other Power-5 conferences. 2021 SEASON PREVIEW: Georgia’s building itself into a 2021 favorite

    If I’m a betting man, I make Georgia the favorite to win the SEC. Yes, there is the injury to George Pickens, its best wide receiver. OFFENSE But the Bulldogs have the most talented QB in the SEC (in experience, anyway) in JT Daniels, they still have a dynamite WR combo in Kearis Jackson and Jermaine Burton, and a filthy running back in Zamir White.   I love the SEC. It’s got awesome players, awesome facilities, but there’s stuff that really, really pisses me off that I thinks important to moan about before the season.
