This weekend LSU got the commitment of 4-star linebacker/defensive end Erick Fowler. Here’s a few things about the 4-star player from Manor HS in Manor, TX. Fowler is rated: — The 12th-overall rated player in Texas. — 6th-best weakside defensive end in the country. — 88th-best overall player in the country. Fowler had offers from 15 schools, including Texas, Alabama, Texas A&M, Kentucky, Missouri, Oklahoma, and UCLA amongst others.
Read moreArkansas has captured its eighth commitment of the 2016 recruiting class after OLB Alexy Jean-Baptiste decided he wanted to be a Razorback on Monday. The 3-star recruit is from Coconut Creek HS in Pompano Beach, FL, and is 6-3 in height and weighs a tidy 205 lb. 24-7Sports.com rates him as the 55th-overall best linebacker in the nation, the 104th-best player in Florida, and 786th-best player in Florida. He had 26 offers, including Kentucky, Miami, Michigan State, Wisconsin and Louisville, but Arkansas won a 3-way battle between themselves, the Hurricanes, and North Carolina.

Vanderbilt’s big commitment for the weekend was from 6-7, 305lb Devin Cochran from Greater Atlanta High School in Norcross, GA. Cochran is ranked the 84th overall player in Georgia and the 79th overall offensive tackle in the country. He is also ranked the 906th overall player in the country. Speaking on the Paul Finebaum Show at the SEC Spring meetings in Destin, FL, The Head Ball coach said: “I hope that’s not against the rules,” he added. “We think he’s got to get in grad school and do some stuff. Our conference – if they’ve had issues before – would frown on us taking a player like that.” He added: “It’s just one year. Maybe he’s gone to a place where things haven’t worked out or maybe he played on a team that doesn’t win that much and he wants to go and play on a successful team. Let ’em play.
Read moreLSU offensive linesman Jevonte Domond has been arrested on felony domestic abuse charges, according to reports. According to Ross Dellenger of The Advocate, the 6-6, 310lb freshman offensive tackle was arrested on “felony domestic abuse battery with strangulation” charges after Domond lifted his girlfriend off the ground and dropped her. The LSU team suspended the player, a spokesman from the team told The Advocate, although Les Miles didn’t offer further comment. Domond came to LSU from Glendale Community College and played for the Tigers in one game, the report said. He was thought to be challenging for a starting job on the LSU side, but now that doesn’t look like a possibility.
Read moreMichigan CB Blake Countess has transferred to Auburn. Countess will play in Jordan-Hare as a graduate student. He had 114 tackles for Michigan in 3 seasons, including 3.5 tackles for loss. He also had six interceptions during his career. Countess’ best season was in 2013, where he recorded 46 tackles, two tackles for loss, six interceptions (returned for 169 yards) and a touchdown. He also had four passes defended. Countess tweeted: “Excited to attack the next chapter in my life!” The move by 5-10, 180lb Countess will strengthen Auburn’s secondary which has been decimated by injuries this off-season.
Read moreThe commitment of four-star defensive tackle Kendell Jones to Alabama has moved the Crimson Tide up the SEC recruiting rankings. The 6-4, 361lb Jones is ranked 67th on the National Composite rankings, as well as being the 11th-best DT in the nation and the 9th-best player in Texas, where he plays at Shoemaker High School. The rankings – according to recruiting website 24-7 – sees Alabama leapfrog Tennessee to fifth, behind Georgia, Ole Miss, LSU and Kentucky. Florida is in seventh, followed by Mississippi State, Auburn, Arkansas, South Carolina, Vanderbilt and Missouri. Alabama also moved up four spots to No.10 in the national rankings, which is currently headed up by Florida State. The Crimson Tide currently has five four-star commitments
Read moreMissouri has dismissed redshirt sophomore defensive end Marcus Loud for a violation of team policies, the team has said. According to website RockMNation, the dismissal of the 6-4, 260lb DE was not on legal grounds. Loud was one of the favourites to start at the position this year. In 2014 he played all 14 games for Missouri, putting up 14 tackles and a tackle for loss, Loud, from Wheatley, TX, was a 3-star recruit in the Tigers’ 2012 class as the 54th-best strongside defensive end in the country, according to recruiting site 24-7. He spurned offers from Mississippi State, TCU and Michigan State (amongst others) before deciding to play in Columbia.

Alabama is No.3 on the list behind Ohio State and TCU, while Auburn and Georgia are in the No.9 and No.10 spots. Alabama plays Georgia on Oct. 3rd at Sanford Stadium, and Auburn at Jordan-Hare Stadium on Nov. 28th. Incidentally, Auburn plays Georgia at Jordan-Hare Stadium on Nov.14th.
