Although the Sarah Fuller news made us all smile, last season was so bad for the Vanderbilt Commodores before the season with the transfers and opt-outs that the 0-9 season that happened seemed inevitable from Day 1, and it came true in an awful way. Several times they played like an episode of ‘300’, fighting monster schools valiantly with a roster of under 53, but still playing the games anyway. It was sad, and not even uplifting. So who wins and loses the College Football Play-Off Expansion?

  The powers-that-be who runs the College Football Play-Off have recommended that the play-off be expanded from four to 12 teams. The bracket would include the six highest-ranked college football champions plus six teams as determined by the College Football Play-Off Committee, ostensibly giving the Committee even more power than they had when recommending four. We don’t know who would do the ranking for the other 6, but we can only hope it’s the AP. The SEC backed the idea (for very good reason because if it had been last year they would have seen four SEC teams get in (Alabama, Texas A&M, Georgia and Florida), as did the other Power-5 conferences.     If I’m a betting man, I make Georgia the favorite to win the SEC. Yes, there is the injury to George Pickens, its best wide receiver. How Alabama and the SEC dominated the 2021 NFL Draft

Thanks to years of success, we knew there were going to be a lot of Alabama players taken the NFL Draft. We just didn’t know how successful it would be as part of the SEC’s record 65 total players drafted. Ten Alabama players were taken in all, including six in the first round (Jaylen Waddle, Patrick Surtain, DeVonta Smith, Mac Jones, Alex Leatherwood and Najee Harris), two in the second round (Landon Dickerson and Christian Barmore), and two more in the sixth round (Deonte Brown, Thomas Fletcher).     Now the Spring Games are finished, it’s time to think about the schedules. We don’t know right now who is in the conference schedule, so we rank the games in order of what we’re excited about. Will the NCAA’s new rule affect SEC teams?

        The NCAA yesterday at their annual meeting said that – through all sports – that all athletes who transfer will be granted immediate eligibility for the season after they transfer, instead of having to wait a year. This means that SEC teams will be able to ‘add’ players at speed, rather than wait on the indecision of high school players who might or might not want to come to their campus. The SEC loves black players, hates black head coaches

  If I’m an Auburn fan, I wouldn’t understand why my team didn’t even bother interviewing Tony Elliott. Tony Elliott has been in charge of one of the biggest, brightest offenses in college football for 2015-2019, and has coached NFL star in Deshaun Watson, and the next NFL star in Trevor Lawrence. He’s been a master – and has been prettily paid for it by one of college football’s most elite programs. It’s easy to see why Elliott wasn’t even interviewed. The excuse from Greene (who by the way, is African-American) will be that he didn’t bother interviewing anybody, instead of going straight for Boise State’s Brian Harsin – a move which pissed off the already-crazed Auburn booster base.
