SEC Preview: Can Lane Kiffin get that big win (at last)?

Lane Kiffin runs his mouth a lot. But he has failed to follow up on it on so many occasions, it’s getting a joke. Here’s a stat: He’s 1-19 against teams who finish up winning 9 games, and 3-7 against teams who end up getting into the Top 25. And last year, Ole Miss was destroyed by LSU in a Jaylen Daniels special. Kiffin will want to show everyone that he’s back (and ready for a bigger job!), and with the Tigers coming to town, this game’s got top billing. 1. No. 13 LSU (-2.5) at No.20 Ole Miss: Even though LSU gave up 426 yards to a pretty bad Arkansas offense, they got things right with an exceptional end-of-game

Week 4 SEC Previews: Ole Miss v Bama’s the big one

After an awful performance against South Florida, the knives are out for The University of Alabama. The offense was dreadful, with neither Tyler Buchner or Ty Simpson proving that they would replace Jalen Milroe. And despite the terrible weather, 17-3 wasn’t the way to ‘come back’ against a dreadful USF team. Now Lane Kiffin comes into town, armed with an Ole Miss team that’s weirdly good on both offense and defense. This should be fun. Also we can Texas A&M hosting Auburn, No.12 LSU hosting Arkansas, Mississippi State rolling into South Carolina, Kentucky’s going to Vanderbilt and the potential upset of the day when Memphis and Missouri play each other in St Louis. Tennessee’s got UTSA, Georgia’s hosting (giggles!) UAB,

SEC Power Rankings: Boy, was I wrong about Missouri

OK Missouri! I was wrong about you! I was wrong about Eli Drinkwitz! I was wrong about Brady Cook! I was wrong about Harrison Mevis! I was wrong about Missouri’s game against Kansas State on Saturday, in which I predicted a home shellacking! I was wrong about Missouri and Vanderbilt being the worst teams in not only the SEC East, but also the SEC! OK, maybe not the wanker and the weird-about-the-daughters bit, but I was wrong about you, Eli! Please forgive me! Harrison Mevis’ ‘Bomb heard around the SEC’ the longest kick in SEC history. Brady Cook got the boos at the start but got the cheers at the start. And the atmosphere was off the chain. And it

Week 3 SEC Preview: A underrated weekend

There’s an expression in Britain that says: “They’re a bit of a wanker”. It’s basically the same as what you’d say in the USA about someone being a jerk-off, but with less words. There are other terms: A pile of ‘wank’ (American translation: ‘Crap’), we ‘wanked all over them’ (American translation: Smashed them), ‘Wankered’ (American translation hammered), and ‘Wanky’. Now ‘wanky’ is a term for someone or something that’s pretentious (ie ‘That’s a bit wanky). If you don’t believe me, go look it up in the great Urban Dictionary, which will help you when you are trying to work out what ‘tarmacking’ is. But the line about ‘bit of a wanker’ is:”Someone excessively and annoyingly pretentious and/or false, with a strong

Week 2 Rankings: Ole Miss rules, Georgia needs to play someone

Normally, if a team’s the No.1 team in the nation, then they would usually be No.1 on our SEC rankings. But aside from the fact that Georgia’s schedule is medicore-to-dreadful, they haven’t looked wonderful on offense, and aren’t clicking in enough gears to get the No.1 spot. So here are the rankings: Ole Miss (2-0): Beat Tulane 37-20 and looked increasingly comfortable as the game went on. Judkins is a weapon, and Jaxson Dart is looking increasingly comfortable within the offense. Look, there are still things to iron out (they were 1-13 on 3rd downs), but a ‘scrappy’ offense that wins is better than none at all. Tennessee (2-0): Tennessee’s offense sputtered against Austin Peay, but they still ran out in

Week 2 Betting Preview: Get excited about Texas-Alabama, A&M v Miami, and Ole Miss v Tulane

It’s Week 2 of the season tomorrow. The two words on everyone in college football’s mouth is: “Texas” and “Alabama”. Texas fans are apparently forking out $1,000 just to be there – even though Alabama’s widely expected to be comfortable. But that’s not the cool games in the SEC. Ole Miss goes to Tulane in a battle of ‘First to 100’. Texas A&M goes to Miami in the battle of ‘Guess Which School’s Back After Winning This One’. Auburn go up the West Coast to Cal. Mississippi State hosts the high-octane offense of Arizona. And there’s FBS intrigue in the battle of the rich private schools as Vanderbilt goes across state lines to face Wake Forest. However, there are duds. We’re trying

THE WEEK ONE SEC RANKING LIST

Without further ado (and without focus on the SEC’s 1-3 record against Power-5 teams this week) here we goooo……. Vanderbilt (2-0): BECAUSE THEY ARE 2-0 BABY! AND THE RECORD MATTERS!!  Tennessee (1-0): BECAUSE THEY WERE THE ONLY SEC TEAM TO BEAT A POWER-5 TEAM EVEN THOUGH A LOT OF NON POWER-5 TEAMS AND MAYBE A COUPLE OF FCS TEAMS WOULD HAVE BEATEN THAT POWER-5 TEAM!! Oh, and Joe Milton’s 21-30, 201 yard, 2 TD effort (where he shone out at times), was excellent.  Kentucky (1-0): Beat a team that’s expected to be a title contender in the MAC. Look, it was hardly a perfect performance on the offense, especially in the first half from Golden Boy Devin Leary. But

Week 1 SEC Preview: Big week for Florida and LSU

The Florida-Utah game on Thursday night, the South Carolina v North Carolina game on Saturday and LSU-Florida State games on Sunday night are the three biggest games on this week’s college football schedule. Elsewhere, SEC teams involved have pretty easy battles, even though there are things to watch all over the shop. So without further ado, here’s your Week 1 Preview (With betting predictions, and sorry if some are shorter than others. We didn’t see the point of writing an essay on Georgia and UT-Martin): THURSDAY Florida at No.14 Utah (-4.5) There was a lot of disturbance in the force when it was found out that Cam Rising wasn’t playing. But it wasn’t entirely surprising after he blew out his ACL

SEC Preview: Can Florida get competitive again?

It seems like it was light years ago that Florida had two Heisman contenders, was one of the most exciting teams in college football, and played in a major bowl. But in fact, it was only 2020. Now, the architect of it all is out, and so is the quarterback, and the weapons who played alongside him. In came Luke Napier from ULL. He told everyone that it would be a slow process. Anthony Richardson in one game over Utah got the fanbase excited again…..and that was about it for 2023, as the Gators fell to a 6-7 (3-5 SEC) record which included a loss to Vanderbilt, which you can blame on inconsistent QB play as well as a bad
