Vandy WR transfers to Alcorn State

Vanderbilt wide receiver CJ Bolar is transferring to Alcorn State of the MEAC for the rest of his collegiate career. The 6-1 player from Mississippi came into the SEC  as a 3-star recruit, ranked as the 105th-best wide receiver in the nation and the 13th-best in the state. Bolar had an excellent freshman year, catching 34 receptions for 440 yards and two TDs and rushing for 24 yards on just two rushes. In his sophomore year he played nine games of an injury-plagued season and had 11 receptions for 79 yards. You wonder how good Vanderbilt’s offense would have been with him playing. Alabama WR transfers to Mississippi State

Former Alabama wide receiver Tyrell Shavers is transferring to Mississippi State. He will be available to play for Mike Leach’s offense immediately – which means he’ll be able to catch balls from CJ Costello, the former Stanford starter who transferred to Starkville earlier this year. He has two years of eligibility left after redshirting in 2017. In 2018 Shavers played in all 13 games but didn’t have a statistic, and he appeared in all of Alabama’s games in 2019, but only had a 14 yard rush and a 20 yard catch to his name, and recovered a blocked punt for a touchdown. Three Auburn players test COVID-19 positive

Three Auburn players have tested positive for the novel Coronavirus, the school has said. The players – as usual with these cases – have not been named – are isolating themselves from the team. The Auburn news is hardly a surprise in the State of Alabama, which has been furiously opening up. Last week five Alabama players tested positive for COVID-19.

Texas A&M players test positive for COVID-19

An un-accounted for amount of Texas A&M have tested positive for COVID-19, the team has reported. Ross Bjork, the AD of the Aggies, said that ‘less than five’ players had tested positive for the virus, but declined to give further details (he’s basically in line with what’s been happening in Texas over recent months when it comes to COVID-19). “We knew we would have positive tests,” Bjork said. “That’s why you do the tests, to verify that your plan is working and to verify the health and safety of athletes, which is the most important thing. “Once there’s a positive test, there’s an action plan, we follow all the safety procedures.” As mentioned with our Alabama article last week, the

Report: Five Alabama players test positive for COVID-19

Five Alabama players have tested positive for COVID-19. BamaInsider didn’t say who the players were, and the University of Alabama did not disclose their names, confirming “player privacy regulations” to Simone Eli of CBS-42. “I’m told the players were tested Tuesday, practiced together Wednesday, and received the positive results today (Thurs). Why the college football season will DEFINITELY go ahead

Earlier on Saturday Fox Sports’ writer Joel Klatt tweeted: “The college football season will 100% go ahead…. Fans will be in the stands at some capacity in most of the stadiums….The season will likely start on time”. The forgotten men of great SEC teams

For good or for bad, SEC people can bend your ear until they’ve practically ripped it off about the Cam Newtons, Tim Tebows, Reggie Whites, Trent Richardsons and Tuas of memory. Of course Georgia fans will regale you with stories about Herschel, ‘Florida men’ will even talk about Spurrier’s frighteningly good offenses, and someone from Arkansas might chime about Darren McFadden.
