AP Poll, ESPN Polls are out: Where SEC teams stand
First of all, the SEC could get four in the Play-Off (Georgia, Texas, Tennessee and one of Alabama, Ole Miss and South Carolina), but it’s unlikely.
But the SEC Championship is set: Georgia v Texas in Atlanta.
The AP Poll has made everything really interesting for SEC teams.
We’ll keep you updated with the Play-Off Committee’s thoughts on Tuesday.
Oh, and we think the SEC Championship Game is a waste of time. All the game is going to give us is injuries.
And both sets of fans — while there is certainly going to be a massive boost to their egos by winning the conference — would rather have a week (or two) off before the play-offs.
TEAMS DEFINITELY IN
No.2. Texas (11-1) — Dominated Texas A&M. Could have been more but for the 2 turnovers by Quin Ewers. Texas fans we know don’t want to be there. They’d rather have the week off and work off the injuries.
No. 5. Georgia (10-2) — Going to the SEC Championship Game. Georgia fans we know don’t want to be there. They’d rather have the week off and work off the injuries.
No.6. Tennessee (10-2) — Didn’t make the SEC Championship Game. Probably shouldn’t have lost to Arkansas, should they? But actually, they should be happy not to be. They are guaranteed a play-off spot, and now they have a week to work off the injuries.
TEAMS ON THE BUBBLE
No.11. Alabama (9-3) — Frankly, we have no idea why Alabama is even part of the conversation after the losses to Tennessee, Vanderbilt (looking worse and worse) and getting blown out by Oklahoma and nearly blowing a huge lead to Georgia and being on the struggle bus against Auburn. We would put South Carolina ahead of them, but there we go.
No.13 South Carolina (9-3) — The form team in the SEC and maybe in college football. For Chrissake, they had six straight wins over ranked opponents. They should be at No.11 and Alabama should be on the outside looking in.
However, they would get in if No.12 Arizona State (10-2) loses in the Big 12 Championship Game to No.16 Iowa State (10-2) in Arlington next week.
PROBABLY OUT
No.15 Ole Miss (9-3) — The losses to LSU, Kentucky and Florida were simply terrible. Having said all that, there’s an argument for them to be above South Carolina after they dominated USC at Williams-Brice only a few weeks ago. But the Florida loss will really hurt.
DEFINITELY OUT
No.22 Missouri (9-3) — Yeah, not happening.

No.7: Tennessee
No. 12: Alabama
No.13: Ole Miss
No. 14: South Carolina
No.19: Missouri
