SEC Preview: The most middling schedule of the year
While the B1G has a monstrous game (Penn State v Ohio State), two unbeatens battle in the ACC (Pitt v SMU) and Colorado going in as flavor-of-the-month (again) at what will be a raucous Texas Texas, the SEC has Georgia v Florida, which is going to be a stretch if you consider both teams – and a lot of very middling games.
Therefore this preview is going to be pretty darned quick.
- Vanderbilt at Auburn (-7.5): The Commodores could experience a slide backwards after their incredible battles against Texas and Alabama – simply because they are on the road. Even if Auburn’s terrible, Jordan-Hare’s a tough place to play. PREDICTION: Jarquez Hunter gets the job done for the Barners. Auburn 38, Vanderbilt.
- No.19 Ole Miss (-7) at Arkansas: Arkansas muddied the water a ton for Tennessee (and coming away with a win), and Ole Miss is now grinding out wins instead of playing the expansive football we’re used to seeing. Take the OU game for example, which was ugly as sin. PREDICTION: This is going to be a toughie for Ole Miss. Expect a pretty low-scoring one. Ole Miss 28, Arkansas 20.
- Georgia (-14.5) v Florida: Georgia’s going to beat the living daylights out of Florida because: It’s good, and Florida are not. PREDICTION: Dawgs roll. UGA 51, Florida 10.
- No.10 Texas A&M (-3) at South Carolina: A couple of weeks we said how Ole Miss would struggle in a raucous Williams-Brice atmosphere. And they didn’t. We expect A&M to use the defense they have, and the rest will be history. PREDICTION: Texas A&M 27, South Carolina 10
- Kentucky at No.7 Tennessee (-17.5): Kentucky’s stuck with Mark Stoops, and Tennessee’s fine with a team that has to win to not only stay in play-off contention but also in SEC Championship Game contention. PREDICTION: Things get ugly for Kentucky. PREDICTION: Tennessee 41, Kentucky 7.
- UMass at Mississippi State (-18.5): If they don’t win this, then fire Jeff Lebbe. PREDICTION: Mississippi State 48, UMASS 3.
- Maine at Oklahoma (N/A): OU 70, Maine 0.
