Week 4 SEC Power Rankings: Tennessee’s our New No.1

1. Tennessee (4-0):While Tennessee won’t go No.1 in the AP Polls, Tennessee now has two wins over ranked opponents – one of the only teams to do so in this early part of the season. The Vols aren’t just your hyperseedy, fun-and-gun offense that Josh Heupel often throws out, they’ll also grind you to the ground. This team is goooood, folks.

2. Texas (4-0): ARCH MANNING ARCH MANNING ARCH MANNING PICK ARCH MANNING TOUCHDOWNS ARCH MANNING HEISMAN CONFIRMED ARCH MANNING ARCH MANNING DON’T MATTER IF YOU PLAYED NOBODY TODAY ARCH MANNING ARCH MANNING
3. Georgia (3-0): Resounding win over bye week, which is above most of the opponents that have played Georgia so far this year.
4. Ole Miss (4-0): Offense on overdrive destroys bad team. Yaaaay.
5. Alabama (3-0): Beat bye week. Good week to keep healthy.
6. LSU (3-1): A lot of crap has been given for the sight of empty seats at Tiger Stadium during the UCLA game, but the heat and sun was absolutely brutal. The sun on steel bleachers and concrete is a truly horrible experience, anyway. But if you don’t like it Tiger fans, send back Disney’s money. And as for the football, LSU’s definitely a second half defensive team. Fine against UCLA and South Carolina, could be more worrying down the stretch.
7. Missouri (4-0): Missouri-supporting friends of mine weren’t even happy about the Tigers’ double-overtime win over a Vanderbilt team that they were widely predicted to beat by 18 1/2 points. They definitely have problems at kicker. But they also have problems all over the park. The SEC gods gave the Tigers a great week to have a bye week and get their collective heads together.
8. South Carolina (3-1): Congratulations to South Carolina on beating one of the worst teams in college football, and putting up a 50-spot at the time.
9. Oklahoma (3-1): Jackson Arnold is having an awful season. Is this because he’s terrible or because his wide receiving room resembles an episode of ‘ER’? We dunno, but  his replacement Michael Hawkins Jr, who went for 11-18, 146 yards and a TD looks a far, far better prospect.
10.. Arkansas (3-1): The Auburn game was one of the worst games we (side) watched. Truly awful. Last year it was a game the Razorbacks would have lost, though. But they overcame terrible quarterback play to come home from Alabama with the victory. And quite possibly saved Sam Pittman’s job…in September.
11 Texas A&M (3-1): Struggled with Bowling Green for almost all of the game before eventually winning out 26-0. Yes, we know that Bowling Green was up against Penn State for a half, but my Gosh this was ugly from the Aggies.
12.  Kentucky (3-1): After getting thumped by South Carolina, the Wildcats turned it around by nearly beating Georgia 13-12 – which they honestly could have won but for some astonishingly bad playcalling in the fourth quarter of that game – and things further improved when they smashed Ohio 41-6. Kentucky is a medium-to-lower SEC team. Not sure how well that will go down in Lexington.
13. Vandy (2-2): Hello, heartbreak. Vanderbilt played is ass off, took No.7 team Missouri to the wire, then inexplicably missed a field goal to lose in double overtime. On one side, Clark Lea’s really improved things. Vanderbilt probably should be 4-0. On the other side….Urgh.
14. Auburn (2-2): Hugh Freeze threw his team under the bus, his starting quarterback threw his back-up quarterback under the bus, and by the end of the game, we’re surprised Auburn fans didn’t throw themselves under the bus after watching that crap. HOW DID HUGH FREEZE NOT LAND A BETTER QUARTERBACK THAN PAYTON FREAKIN’ THORNE IN THE TRANSFER PORTAL?
15. Florida (2-2): The Gators got a win over Mississippi State….if that means anything. Graham Mertz had himself a DAY (19-21, 201 yards, 3 TD)..if that means anything. Mississippi State is goddawful.
16. Mississippi State (1-3): If you don’t have anything nice to say about a team, then don’t.
