An Ode To Muschamp The Blunt
As nasty as [everybody] has been towards Florida coach Will Muschamp this off-season after the Gators’ dismal 4-8 season, we didn’t expect the kind of bluntness that he’d come out with at the SEC Media Days in Hoover, AL.
He said: “It falls on my shoulders….There will be a lot of chatter about hot seat business. The way you combat that is to have a good football team, which we’re going to have.” He added that he never thought he would go from ‘hot seat’ to ‘boot seat’: “There was never any time in my mind that I didn’t think I would be retained,” he said. “(Florida Athletic Director Jeremy Foley) understood some of the circumstances we dealt with.”
Florida had a ton of injuries last year, which really impacted the Gators going forward. If everyone – who hasn’t graduated/left for the NFL – comes back healthy – the Gators could be a scary prospect in 2014.
There was a certain amount of confidence in his voice, the way he talked about his wide receiver roster as “deep and talented”. He’s obviously very excited about getting quarterback Jeff Driskel back….probably as excited as UF fans are about getting to see EIGHT open practices this fall. So if you think Muschanp can’t coach, you get to watch practice, people.
It makes us kinda excited about the Gators in 2014, people.
