Looking at the best Class of ’21 WRs in the SEC…
Heisman Winner DaVonte Smith and Jaylen Waddle are gone. So is Florida standout Kadarious Toney. If we hadn’t already said goodbye to J’Marr Chase last year after he opted out of the 2020 season, he’s definitely not coming back now. Nor is Terrace Marshall, who was like God at the start of the season for LSU before he decided – in my words more than his – not worth getting injured for. Nor is Ole Miss’ Elijah Moore, Auburn speedster Anthony Schwartz and his fellow Tiger Seth Williams.
But the class of 2021 has brought with it more and more talent.
Sadly for the rest of the SEC, most of that talent is going to the SEC West: With Alabama and LSU.
In fact, Alabama has four of the top ten Class of 2021 wide receivers (Jacorey Brooks (in picture), Agyie Hall, JoJo Earle, Christian Leary), while LSU has Nos. 9 (Deoin Smith), No. 11 (Chris Hilton), No.13 (Brian Thomas) and No. 40 (Malik Nayers).
Also:
No.18 Shadrach Banks, who’s going to be play at Texas A&M, while No. 26 Ketron Jackson will play for Arkansas. No.31 Bralon Brown will play for Ole Miss, No.33 Marcus Burke and No.44 Daejon Reynolds will play for Florida, No.39 Theodore Knox and No.47 Antonio Harmon are going to play for Mike Leach and Mississippi State, and No.49 Dekel Crowdus will play at Kentucky.
GEORGIA STRUGGLES
In 2020, Georgia got the 8th, 9th and 14th WRs in the 2020 Signing Class (Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, Arian Smith and Jermaine Burton), who all contributed in 2020.
In the 2021 class – led by passing game coordinator Cortez Hankton – the Bulldogs whiffed on every Top-40 WR they contacted….including hometown four-star Deion Colzie, who played at Athens Academy. Colzie took his talents to South Bend, Indiana.
