Report: Five Alabama players test positive for COVID-19
Five Alabama players have tested positive for COVID-19.
BamaInsider didn’t say who the players were, and the University of Alabama did not disclose their names, confirming “player privacy regulations” to Simone Eli of CBS-42.
“I’m told the players were tested Tuesday, practiced together Wednesday, and received the positive results today (Thurs). Source tells me that no players showed symptoms/signs,” she tweeted. “Further, I’m told that nearly 50 players were together yesterday on the band field. (As we saw in many videos) Those players “should” be in quarantine moving forward, source says.
She added: “Source did not specify names, nor did I ask. Did say it was one lineman, a couple skill position players and one quarterback.”
Meanwhile in Tuscaloosa – where before this incident construction workers on Bryant-Denny Stadium were found to have contracted the disease- positive cases have skyrocketed, with 383 cases in the past 7 days.
Last week, Tuscaloosa County was put on the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s COVID-19 County National Watch List.
Alabama head coach has been vocal on the issue of COVID-19, pleading with fans to stay safe and covering their face with masks.
The State has pretty much opened up its doors over the last few weeks.
